Hey, i have recently changed the clutch on my mk4 pd130 and noticed that after about 10 minutes of driving the traction control light comes on and stays lit! has any one have an idea what may be causing this?

My alternator (battery) light is also flicking on and off, especially when the car is cold if anyone has any ideas wat this could be?

Cheers Rod

Have a look at the ABS sensor wires on the front hubs - they are also used for the TC - you might have snapped a wire or left it unplugged after the clutch was done.

Not sure about the alternator light - have a look at the altenator drive belt - could be slipping but not making a noise.

cheers, will check the hubs! got new brakes going on soom so will do it then! with the aalternator light, the battery terminal was loose, so i have tightened it, it isnt flashing all the time now but only occasionally!
i have noticed that my rear window heater is faulty too, it doesnt switch on when the car is cold and turns off all the time, so i have got to keep pressing it! not sure if it is something to do with the alternator light??

How old is the battery ? - I changed mine a couple of months ago (old one was OEM and been on since 2003 when car bought).
My problem at the time was the power steering light staying on after starting.

A duff battery can throw up all sorts of wierd issues. I would get it checked.

still got the traction control prob! have checked all brakes and abs sensors, all are fine, have plugged it into computer no fault codes! battery and alternator all charging as they should!

Traction control light comes on after about 10 mins of diving! when i turn the car off it goes out then takes another 10 mins to light up again!

any ideas? is baffling me!

I'm just thinking out loud but :

1. Are you running different size wheels/tyres between front and rear ?
2. Is the ABS light lighting when you turn on the ignition but going off when you start ?
3. Is the traction control working with the light ON ? - ie is it just the light on.
4. have you looked at the wires to the switch ?

Amazing! thank you! seems to b the prob and the gear box was tricky to get out so it is quite possible we could have pulled and snapped the wire!

cheers guys!
