ok just went out to the car( in the middle of a blizzard:eek: had 3 inches of snow in about an hour) and had a look at the handbrake...it seems the gap between the console and gaitor is too small to slip the new one over so im going to have to lift up the centre console at the back...which im dreading:( lol

i bought a handbreak cover off ebay like that, was supposed to slip over the existing plastic one but was so tight there was no chance of it going on. the seller told me theyre not meant to be used without the plastic either so i ended up binning it.

You dont have to lift the console to fit the gaiter,The handbrake cover will come off, just grip the handle firmly(oo-er)and pull fowards, just try not to punch the radio/heater as you go.:)

yeah i think the handbrake gaitor i got is meant to go over the plastic cover already on it because the gaiter i got i rather flimsy....in saying this...its made from 100% real italian leather;) mwahaha lol
