Dear All,

Well I took my car to Seat Camberly for the 7th year Service even though my car has only done 42K. Well they said that both two front mounts need to be changed.

They discounted the price for parts and labour to £174 but they were unsure if the top mounts include the bearing for the strut? Does any one know how much this part is? They have said that if the Bearings need to be changed then they will only charge for the part but do you think that I should just tell them to change it? I mean if the top mount needed to be changed, for peace of mind should I not change the bearing?

Is it worth getting the lower arms changed at the same time?

Also they noted that the electric water pump which pumps water around the system after you turn of the engine is leaking and needs replacing? They want to charge £150 for part and labour. Is this a good price? Can anyone tell me where this part is so I can see how bad the leak is?

I have noticed recently that the rad bottle has been slowing going down?

Regards.

Thanks do you know where the pump is located so that I can see how much is leaking. Is it a risk not changing it?

Does anyone know about the top mounts?

Water pump is top left hand side of radiator, the top mounts are £20 each and bearings are separate at £5 each, at 42k I would be surprised if they had worn that badly but it’s possible.

The rad bottle level would go down if the water pump is leaking. ;)

You mean expansion tank, its not located on the rad ;) Also the pump is only 105 all in retail and it doesnt take 10 mins to fit, if it was leaking then im sure you would notice matey, Check yourself its screwed to top of rad on the plastic casing.
