Hi folks i have 06 plate cupra tdi it has a tuning box in it from when i bought it, The last owner reckons it was about 180bhp im not to sure of it, just feels like it has a major boost from about 1500rpm to 2500rpm then nothing. would a remap be a better option and would i feel a difference power wise also how would the standard clutch hold up. any advice most appreciated

Hi, I have a 56 plate ibiza FR TDi when i had stage 1 remap done by Will at p-torque it had 180bhp and pulled all the way through the rev range so yeah a remap would help you and standard clutch would be fine upto 300 lbs torque maybe higher.

not flooring it bur if i did at about 2800 there would be hardly any power mate. i recon a remap will take it over 300 torque

Hmm, Well to be honest you should be pulling to about 4500rpm then the power will tail off.
If the tuning box your using is doing that I'd go back to a standard map fella.

What tuning box is it? I hear really good things about certain ones!

No derv will pull to the limiter, No petrol pulls to the limiter.
Not well anyway, you need to find the optimum torque/bhp change. Mines at about 5200rpm.

is the optimum torque range when you should change gear to get the best out of the car czuse i just take mine to jus before it hits the redline

no, optimum torque is defined by the engine spec/design. Each is different. Peak torque on a VAG TDI is usually between 1900rpm and 3000 rpm.

And Daz, yes get the box off and a remap, this will certainly help it pull smoothly and strongly throughout the rev range.

Hi Guys

I know its the same old points being made, but remove the tuning box and get it mapped.

I am more than happy to dyno run cars with boxes on them, and do back to back dyno runs after the P-Torque remap.

I think many feel the box is doing more than it actually is, as it gives an uncontrolled spike of torque, usually with smoke, and then tails off heavily.

Will keep an eye out.
Cant see your sig at work but will have a look later.
Mine is SG05, and is usually filthy lol
