Own a MK4 Ibiza 3dr, and have bought a Sony Headunit and some £40 FLI Integrator 6 17cm coaxials, together with some dynamat. My original plan was to put these speakers in the rear, and leave the front ones because they are actually OK, but having read some threads, i am having second thoughts...

Any ideas? i might buy another cheap set in the Halfords sale for the rear :) cheers

The ones in the front of mine were ok so i left them in unlike the cardboard rear ones. I replaced them with jbl speakers and connected both the fronts and rears to a cheap amp.

Do you sit in the back or the front? That answer also answers the question of which speakers to change.

I understand your point, but i much prefer 3D sound than front bias, especially as i'm tall and driving a 3 door, so the rear speakers are actually closer to my ear..

I have started doing this today, but couldn't find the really small spade connectors to do it in any shops, so i guess it's out with the soldering gun :D

Well, i don't want King Chav parcel shelf stuff, and im not interested whether people can hear my music outside, i just need some decent treble/bass ranges to cope with Foo Fighters etc..

So no, i probably won't be amping, just upgraded the head unit, that'll do :)

Yeah, rear speakers are all wired in, same as the 5 dr, with bass and tweeter. :)

Shame the bass speaker bracket is a really stupid shape, otherwise it could be used properly, my plan is to get some spacers to go behind it, bolt through and hold the speaker in place, is this wise?
