What's this part called?

Morning..

I've managed to snap a clip inside my passenger side rear door whilst I was resealing the metal carrier. See the pics below for the broken plastic bit.
Does anyone know if the broken bits actually do anything and will I need a replacement part, if so what is it called?

The first picture is of it with the broken bits stuck back with some sealing putty, and it attaches to the window glass on the right hand side.

any help would be most welcome.

upon inspection it seems to be a rather flimsy plasticy bit painted white. further analysis shows that it may well indeed be broken. hope that helps!

its the window runner from the regulater. mine broke on my driver door and its a new regulater.... i did fix mine but after about a week the window fell down and that was that... i dont think you can buy them on its own as i was told. but may be wrong.

and a window that is held in with tape and putty.

Thanks for that, I thought they might have been a stock part you could buy but as you just confirmed.. it look like I need to buy the whole gubbins or risk it falling apart later.

you can buy just the regulater on it own comes with rivets.. you all need to do is drill out old rivets fit new regulater and refit. job done.... but stealers will give you price on one with backing plate but you can buy just the regulater on its own. for my driver door it was about £45.

That sounds beyond my skills, as you can tell by my efforts of resealing.
I'd probably knacker the whole door up if I attempted drilling out rivets.

mate if you are resealing all the doors then you DONT need to remove the cover plate. just reseal round the cover plate and door then with a small 1" bush or your finger just slightly wet the sealent and smooth over for a top job thats all i did and not leaked since.

Yeah I know, I must have pulled a bit too much on the cover plate as i was cleaning off the old foam seal.

Maybe you could go to a scrap yard and get the piece or regulator your after?? i would imagine that the mk 4 golf would have the same bit too if you cant find a leon. probably would be alot cheaper too?

If that was holding the glass then it will be the window regulator. Chances are it was already broken as it's a common item to fail. A new regulator setup will come with metal brackets instead of plastic and you might as well replace now while you have panel access. If it goes then your window may drop or you will end up ruining the metal cables/window motor. Plenty for sale on ebay, with or without the backing plate and already connected up.

You won't have to go into it as much if you buy the kit pre connected up. Just changes the cables with clips etc...

Thanks guys, I will hunt down a window regulator. You've been a great help.
I just hope the rain holds off for a day or two so I can dry the car out.
