Hi everyone!

I've finally decided to open my wallet and buy some stuff for my car! (mk4 Ibiza FR 1.8T) i got some parts ordered last night but just wanted to know if i would need anything else to get everything working, ok here's my little list so far:

Apexi power intake universal filter with a 70mm adapter (should just need a short bit of silicon pipe to make it fit right?) it was either this or a K and N and looking online this one is better, dry mesh doesn't need oiling and it filters more particles than the K and N and its a tiny bit cheaper! (and i'm a sucker for japanese performance brands!)

Stilll need a breather filter, will a cheap one do? what size should it be?

Forge TIP, and 007p DV, what spring will i need for my car running the standard map? the green one (5-14 PSI)?

An A pillar gauge holder, and a nice 52mm Greddy boost gauge off of ebay! but here's the important question, do i just need a length of small I/D silicon hose and a T-piece to get the gauge working? obviously it needs wired in to get it to light up but i found a guide on here to do that.

and an OMP front upper strut brace, another ebay job!!

any other suggestions of parts to buy? just so i can get everything done for that area of the engine bay done in one go, if you know what i mean?

oh yeah, i was worried about heat soak since i'd be using an open cone filter, but i'm buying a FMIC after Xmas so that should keep intake temps nice and cool, shouldn't it?

oops, this is a longer post than i expected it to be! any help would be appreciated guys!

wow hats quite alot to take in :)

But ill give it ago:

Your new filter should bolt straight on to the Maf when you dismantle the air box check my readers ride for a pic mines just a cheapy halfrauds one but il be doing something diffrent with it soon enough.I still dont have a breather filter im just going to get a cheap one that should be universal fitment it shouldnt make much diffrence as long as it keeps the crap out.

007p just keep the green one in there untill you start tuning.

Now the gauge you will need a t peice and some 4mm hose its pretty straight forward setting that up.

only other thing id do is get a full exhaust system downpipe etc then youd be ready for stage 2 aroud 240 bhp i beleive??

hope ive answerd your question well enough.

if theres aything else feel free to drop a pm

Just to add with all that power youll need to be able to stop so a 312 brake set up will do the world of good :)

thanks,

i'm going for 312mm brakes off of a TT, coilovers, some new bushes (maybe) and a milltek full system before i get it remapped, so everything should be ready for next summer! (hopefully!!)

Ok got another question for everyone!!

what size is the air inlet (or MAF housing? same bit i think!) on the 1.8T ibiza FR? some people say 70mm and others 65mm (2.5") really confused right now! i thought it was 70mm for my car, the only difference this will make is if i have to buy a straight silione joiner or a reducer to fit the air filter to the MAF housing

OD on the MAF is 70mm, so you fitler will fit straight onto it. No need for any silicone joiner.

You would also need a FMIC go for a stage 2 map.

thanks for that! i can order it now!

yeah i managed to find the code for the Seat sport FMIC on here so i might ive the seat dealer in aberdeen a phone next week to see how much it is and if they can get one, i've got a feeling this car is gonna be expensive!! i'm gonna try and get everything ordered up tonight or at the start of the week, so i'll have something to do next weekend, thinking of starting a readers ride thread and take some photos of everything going together, this is my first car where modifying it will actually be worth it!

Readers ride thread is a good idea too mate.

thats an idea for the future but one of those little filters to stick on the oil breather pipe is the easier solution for now!

Does anyone know what diameter it should be? there are millions of different sizes on ebay, just need to find the right one! i've been searching on here or ages and can't find anything!
