My seat cordoba starts for a second then dies, The fuel pump is working when I turn the ignition on. there is fuel in the car. I Think it could be to do with when the car was parked last the key came away from the immobiliser half of the fob. We clipped it back together and nothing seemed broken. could it ba a sync problem between the car and fob???

Thanks

did it start ok after that ?

the immob chip is inside the Y part of the key so check it's not missing for starters

i am having a simular issue with my wifes cordoba

its a 1.6 single point injection year 1996

this is a random issue that seeems to come and go but is a real pain in the arse
sometimes it will start no problems then other times (this can be from cold or warm it seems to make no diference) it will fire up for a second or 2 then just cut out i have had various mechanics look into this and after chainging all off the parts around the injector including choke and sensors it still continues

this is baffling me
also while driving the car (when it decides to start) you can hear a clicking from the relay/fusebox area
i have searched all over for a diagram to explain what each relay is for but to no avail
this may well be something to do with it

checklist :
fuel pump is priming ok on ignitions first contact
all electrics ok(coils plugs and disy)
cleaned all vacume pipes and air inlet manifold and filters

has anyone got any ideas on fixing this as it is really annoying as it has been going on for over 18 mths now
with sometimes up to 3 months without an issue then it just plays up at the worst moment "mrs in a motorway petrol station or summat"

any help on this issue would be well appreciated

Cheers Lee

I have a similar problem, does your problem go when you warm the car up some?

Ive done a full service and changed most parts to do with fueling and ignition and its still a problem when cold.

Have any of you changed the air intake for sports filters or panel filters etc? (clutching at straws here but the problem must be somewhere for us!

i had similar problem where it would start instantly sometimes then slowly turn over sometimes or not at all. was a dead battery that wouldnt hold charge.

My clicking relay was the rear wiper motor relay 179 I think my fault as de wipered the rear hatch as arm was snapped off when I pick the car up
And starting issue is maybe down to a naffed green temp sensor as will start from cold but fights me if I've made a few short runs from a to b
New temp sensor to fit Monday will post if sorts problem out

my starting problem has gone away so good starting point is a green 4 pin temp sender dead easy to change you just need the sensor and some new coolent job done
