LCR Climate Control Problem (?)

Hey,

I've had the LCR for about 2-3months now and everythings been brilliant, but on the way down the road my GF noticed the blower level was ramping up and down, but we never heard the blowers getting any louder or quiter??

It seems to go on and off but no air is coming out any of the vents no matter what level it is on? It also seems to do the same when the A/C is turned on/off or whatever auto/manual setting it's set to?

Here's a quick vid to show what I mean:

When you click the A/C on I did hear a click sound coming from the glovebox are, also when you cswitch between windows, face and feet you hear it mechanically changing as you do it?

I've searched and all I can find reference to is the slow speed fan problem but my fans never made any noises or anything so I don't think that is the same problem? Or is it?

The car has only done 35k but is a 2002 and was well looked after in it's previous life? Just wondering how to fix the problem? I can see it being trouble trying to de-mist the windows without any blowers?

It does the same whatever temp it is set at, or at auto or recirc - it's just at LO cos I had been pushing all the buttons to get it working lol (if in doubt and all that...)

Had a similar problem with mine all week, pulled glovebox out and found resistor pack/thermostat? 1JO 907 521 I pulled it out and shorted the pins out to check the fan motor was ok put it all back together and it started working again. I priced one at Eurocar spares at about £40. So I will see how it goes over the weekend.

Is that the same resistor pack that is related to the slow speed fan problem or another? Because all the other threads mentiond only an A/C problem... where as your problem (and mine) sound more similar. I dug out an old thread that mentioned the fuses on top of the battery so I'm going to go out and check that in a bit - however this guy also had no lights or radio which are all working on my Leon.

As far as I know the other resistor pack that is the culprit of fan speed is different. I think the one I have a problem with regulates the motor speed/air flow for the climate control. If you pull out the glove box on the passenger side you should see it in front of you red moulded casing. Take out the Phillips screw prise it out(has sealant on it) short out the two larger cables and the blower should start working.

Well... the blowers have started working again!

But I'd like to figure out why it happened in the first place if possible? Is there a way to test this resistor pack? Will it have any specific values to check, though if it's an intermittent failure it may just look ok?
