Anyone use it in their LC / LCR?

If so which grade are you using? - What does anyone recommend for a Stage One LC?

Costco are doing it for silly money it seems so tempted to try it.

Been using GSF Fuchs Titan 5w 40... for last 30k miles.

Was going to get this...

Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 Fully synthetic motor oil

I have three litres in my garage given to me by a mate for nothing :)

Its £27 in Costco?

They also do Castrol Edge but not sure what that costs...

Not Mobil 1 0W-40W, this isn't VAG 504 (found out after purchasing - doh)

i think the recommended british grade is 5w-30, I have had esp in over a year and find that the engine now uses a little oil - never used to but something to keep an eye on as i do. Runs very nice though.

Couldnt get anything except Mobile 1 0w 40 ... I'm not putting that in my 100k mile engine so I went down to GSF and got the usual Fuchs 5W 40 as recommended by Opie Oils :)

wrong, Ive gone into this a couple times. Its perfectly good to use 0W-40 in LCR engine. Its approved above and beyond !

Well, I initially thought that but then on reading it seems like 505-507 are diesel specs and 502 - 504 are petrol specs. So confused I emailed Mobil Customer services asking specifically if Mobil 1 0-40W was ok VW 504 given it is VW 505 rating.

The email reponse I got back was:

ExxonMobil said:
Mobil1 0W40 motor oil does not meet VW 504.00 spec.

That's v useful.

So if I'm reading it right (which is often not the case) only Mobil 1 ESP and SHC Formula V 5-30W are VW504 compliant.

What engine do you have?

In my manual for my 2004 LCR it say vw502 or vw500 grades. Manual is 3 months old...

For the last 30k km I'm running on Mobil1 5W50, Rally formula.

I've chosen it because of the high mileage of the car (180k km) and it's supposed to have better heat resistance.

What do you recon to Slick 50 as an addition with high millage cars, I have a mk 2 gti as well on 150,000 miles drinks so much oil I should throw it away, but keeps on going!! Daily too!!
I stick slick 50 in every 20 thou and have even had it running with virtually no oil and the engine has been saved by the stuff. Pukka gear.:p
