Hi Guys,

on the way to work I saw what I thought was a Cupra R only to realise it was an FR when I drove past it in traffic. It had the Cupra R front bumper on, so what are the differences?

Thanks

Chances are (if it was an 05 plate or later), it was an FR+. As far as I know, these were diesels with a Cupra R kit on them but 17" versions of the R's 18" wheels. If it did happen to be a petrol, it will be a 180bhp 1.8T. If it was an earlier model, then it's likely that the owner has modified it themselves, then god only knows what car it may have started out as.

The FR is faster than a Cupra R. The "F" denotes a humourous "Fu-c-k-i-ng" in front of the "R" which means "Rapid". It has a slightly different meaning in Spain. But the translation brings about the same meaning.

The FR replaced the R as the king dong of on the leon range essentially.

phew, i thought you guys were being a bit harsh on Number86 until I realised he was trying to play me!

deffo looked like a petrol version to me - didnt smoke when pulling away or anything. it was driven by a lady in a nice black colour. I gave her way at a junction just so i could get a good look at the car.
Anybody know of anyone in Nuneaton with one of these?

They were being harsh on me. I don't think any here understands sarcasm. Too high brow :)

Good luck finding who it was. There's a fair few FR+'s around!

Always felt a bit cheated, it being such a rip of the LCR.
