hahah fair do's buddy....if i cant see their headlights then smoke starts coming out my ears...due to the fact i have brembos so if i needed to stop quickly then the person behind me with their shitty drum brakes is gonna ruin my car....some beemer driver the other day was acting like a twat endangering my life and others because he wanted to get past me, in the end at the bottom of the slip[ road he says to me 'what litre is that?, i said 1.8..he cacked himself cos his beemer was a bit of a machine lol...

anyways on topic.....some of the humps round my way, even at 2mph you can hear ssssshshshshss and you can feel the anger from the people behind in there 4x4 beemers thinking wtf...lol

cos you lowered it too much dude.....mine is 25mm lower on KW variant 3 coilovers and the ride is 10 times more comfortable (you did read that right) and until you have tried variant 3s you will never know how much they change the car

back on subject.....unfortunately the compromise of having a car that handles like a go-kart is huge sacrifices.....i.e i can never park in a multi storey car park again, every speed hump deserves respect, even if it looks low (ive been caught out loads of times)....who cares if you are holding all the traffic up?...me and jonjay were just saying the other day that i go over every speed hump at 2mph (so does he), and you should see the tailbacks hahahaahah
...and then I put my foot down so they get lovely soot bath also. :lol

One other thing to check is your under tray. Those silly bumps thlat are like squares, one on each side of the road but don't cover the whole road, meaning you have to drive over then with a wheel each side. My undertray catches on these all the time.

My LCR had a brand new splitter when I bought it in March, and then a month or two later I misjudged the length of the car and nudged a kerb in a car park and broke the new one. Of the two clips on the front in the middle, one just unclipped but the other snapped (exactly like the one that was on the car before I bought it). It was also badly scuffed so I replaced it again. The one on now has ground down more ramps in multi-storeys than I don't know what. Speed bumps are always a problem, as are small, unavoidable debris on the roads. I consider them a consumable item personally.

All this, and I'm still intending on lowering the car by 25mm. I must be made of splitters

I don't seem to have too many problems; mine is on coilies with about 1-finger gap between wheel and arch (low!) and I can get into the local multi-storey and over all the speed bumps, some have to be taken at 45 degrees but it is not too bad!

Off the mark a bit, will one fit my LC?? Easy fitments?? Id rather scrape the splitter if it fits than the bumper!

there's a fairly harsh one in loughborough that I suspected I was going to have to reverse down the ramps from but I was fine, been in others since and not had too many issues! There is a standard for maximum gradients of the ramps (1 in 6) but at this gradient they have to have transitional ramps anyway (Civil Engineering Degree!!); so in theory most of them will be the same! The only issues I have are going on the ferry to the Isle of Man; going on the French ferries was not a problem. Just try and use full lock for your about to catch and it lifts the front end up a little bit due to the castor..every mm counts!!

There's a multi-storey in Hemel Hempstead that Epson and Dixons use when their carparks are full. It goes straight in to a steep ramp and I scrape it every time I park in there

i dunno danny, some of the multi storeys in luton are well steep, even standard i was crawling in there......so worse case scenario what happens if you get caught (exept from huge embarrasment and angry drivers behind you?)

If no one is behind you reversing down the ramps helps a lot!! if not just get as much lock on as you can.. another cheeky method, drag the handbrake a little bit, lowers the back end because of the swing arm geometry, which in turns lifts the front a little ;)

yea..I've had a more humiliating moment, having to get the entire nurburgring queue to reverse to let me out after my 8 lap ticket only opened the barriers 7 times and refused to let me have my last lap!!

mine has seen a bit of grinding, but it is made of an oem splitter with a layer of fibreglass resin and filler on it so it is fairly strong; not had any major issues yet.. will experiment with some more multistories with pictures at some point - would make a useful sticky for other owners!!!

Yep - I tend to move between Hemel and Watford a lot, and most bumps in Watford give a little scrape to the splitter, but nothing too major (on stock suspension) though it makes me cringe when I can hear it!!! In Hemel, there arent so many of them, but then when I head into town, I always use the outdoor carparks - havent actually used a multi yet.

Mind you when I went to Wing Yip (Chinese wholesale goods place near staples corner) it lead to an underground carpark. Now, it didnt even look that steep, but what i didnt see was there was a drainage dip right at the bottom, so when the wheels went into that - man, it made the loudest sound - I cacked myself and though I f@cked the bumper. Being underground made it even sound worse, and everyone else just stopped and looked around at me. Was quite embarassing!

Will get mine done soon as I have to put her in soon for a bit of work. I know they are £18-ish for the part, but they shouldnt really charge that much for labour should they, as it goes on and off easily?

Oh and one last thing - I find that going over the humps unevenly (ie. One wheel to the side of the hump, but the other more on it) means that I can go over them without scratching, but will that end up doing more damage to the suspension? If so then the splitter can take the abuse from now on...

Same here mine doesn't hit on any speedbumps, the only thing I've ever caught on a speedbump was the floor in the UEA car park :cartman:
