Sorry to spoil your fun, but do you know the retro-fitting of HID bulbs into normal headlamps is illegal. See www.dft.gov.uk - Fact sheet: Aftermarket HID headlamps
Did the Mk4 Ibiza come with xenons as a factory option? If so this is what you need, along with automatic self-levelling mechanism and headlamp washers. This video explains it a bit better: Youtube - Illegal HID Conversion Kits Explained
Anyway I have been reading and enjoying this thread, you've done a good job.
Are you planning to do anything with the engine, or are you just moding the body. You best bet with the air filter is either re-fit the air-box with a performance panel filter or buy a in-line filter (BMC CDA) and a pipe to the grill.

Just because you haven't been stopped doesn't make them legal.
They may pass an MOT but they will produce a lot more 'scatter' than Halogens that will blind and endanger other road users.
ive had hids in my current car all year and hids in my last car for about 3 years driven past vosa with them on with no problems and they stopped the car behind me rather than me.
been stopped by traffic police who didnt mention a thing about them as i said in my last post who actually cares?
they might be required to have washers on them etc but if the the police dont care and vosa dont mind whats the problem.
ive had nearly 4 years with hids and past every mot with them and driven by and been stopped by traffic filth without any problems.
Same, make sure they get aligned thou so you don't blind people! Washers are not needed some cars with them from the factory do not have washers, my friends golf has them but his washers have never worked and he has had the car 5 years no problems!

Mate i do thank you for your nice comments but i know my laws and of course i know there illegal, you are told this when you buy them. I dont need you bursting my thread up with law this n that. i appreciate your consideration but i dont need it.....i have passed all MOT's, random stop check by traffic police and blasted them in his illuminous jacket and still nothing said (touch wood), i do not appreciate people coming in to my page and telling me that what im doing is illegal and giving advice sndf links on what i need to go and do.....i dont know exactly why u have choose my thread to say this but there are 100's of users on here with them. And considering you joined seatcupra.net this year with only 90 posts you should maybe get to know users before you go dishing out facts and advice.....im not having a go at you personally as i do apprecaite kind comments in which you also gave but dont tell me that i cannot do as i wish to my own car.....on another note, nah only engine mods iv done is induction kit.....just body mods for me mainly.

dont worry about it, just watch what u say to people tho because alot of people dont like sudden bursts like that but its all good.
whats retro fitting? i have just fitted some BI-XENON telescpoic bulbs to my car and was wondering how legal they are?
Retrofitting refers to the addition of new technology or features to older systems. An example of this is car customizing, where older vehicles are fitted with new technologies: power windows, cruise control, remote keyless systems, electric fuel pumps, etc.
I just took my HID's back out as I was un happy with the beam pattern from them, in particular the right hand side no matter what I done with the bulb itself I just couldn't get it down far enough.
When I tried to aligned the lights the right hand side light was the same height as the left, therefore it *would* dazzle other drivers for sure.
I'm sure I could fix this but require more time and headlight unit removal and since I work 9 - 5 Monday to Friday it shall not be done for some time if at all.
I've found for the moment that using normal halogens (Halfords Super Brilliance Blue) are just as good if not better as the beam pattern is exactly the way I want it to be, no dark spots, no odd shapes - the only difference for me is the colour.
Half the reason for my difficulty with the beam patterns is from what I can see of the headlight is that the unit and reflectors has been designed around halogen bulbs and from what I can see although the HID bulbs are made very well they are simply the wrong shape.
I can only guess that the reflectors and their design for halogen bulbs have been made within very tight tollerances.
For the two weeks I did have them installed I never had anyone flash me nor did I have any interest from the police, this included dirving behind various different police cars and none of them even bat an eyelid.
... So in my opinion its up to the individual ...

i suppose it all comes down to what sort of a copper you come across, i followed one home yesturday and nothing happend, luck of the draw i guess
