get the yellow powerflex ones ! u can buy them from forge

I find that the engine feels more stiffer into the chassis, some people are irritated with the vibrations inside.

i think its nice it feels more direct,

handling is not drasticly improved but it hass less wheel hop and i think with an lowering coil kit it would feel awesome

I have researched doing this for a while and it will be my next mod. I personally will not be going for the Powerflex bushes or any poly-bush for that matter due to the vibrations sent through the car when idling. The best compromise is a pre-assembled mount with a stiffened rubber bush inside and the best for this seem to be the INA Street or Track density mount or the THS mount. However, for a little over £100 (with SCN discount), THS will supply all the engine mounts in their FR3 system which I am keen to know the benefits of doing them all.

I started with the powerflex bush upgrade and hated it from day one. I had it off the car 3 times to check if it was torqued correctly and greased but it was still horrible when setting of at low revs.

I got the THS dogbone mount (full mount with bushes) for £45 and the difference is night and day. Drives like standard but no wheel hop at all.

The powerflex bushes were good when there was no other alternative but they've been left behind by INA and THS in my opinion.

Another vote for THS dogbone. It makes such a huge difference. So much better at getting power down (as long as you have good tyres)!

Defected!
This is what I have posted in my 'Reader's Rides' thread regarding the THS FR3
Engine Mounting System.

Fitted the THS FR3 Engine Mounting System yesterday with the help of a mate with a lift. Sorry there's no pics but I forgot to take the camera to the garage, damn. These were relatively easy to fit with access to a four point lift and I reckon we'd have really struggled without it but as it was the job was completed in about an hour. We did one mounting at a time ie removing one and then replacing it before moving onto the next.

Parts we had to remove from above the engine were Strut Brace, Airbox and Battery Cover. The Expansion Tank and Power Steering Reservoir also had to be loosened and moved out of the way and then the Splash Gaurd from under the engine. Once the Aibox is off you can take the top off of the trunking which carries part of the wiring loom, underneath the wires there are holes to gain access to the mounting bolts. We then lifted the car, positioned an axle stand underneath to support the engine and then lowered the car until we were at the correct height. The engine mount can now be removed and refitted, simples.

We then lifted the car, moved the axle stand to the other side and did the same again.

When we had fitted the top two engine mounts it was time to move onto the DBM. Because of the stiffness of the top mounts there was no need to support the engine so we just lifted the car and changed the part.

We then put back all of the parts that were removed and congratulated ourselves on a job well done. When I started the engine I was supprised how little vibration there was in the cabin, hardly noticeable at all and I reckon if you did'nt know the parts had been changed you would'nt be able to tell.

Driving the car albeit a short distance so far the first thing you notice is that the car seems much more direct in putting the power down and there is now absolutely no movement in the gear stick when you accelerate and ease off.

All in all a worthy mod and with the SCN discount it's a good price too.

Also I'd like to add that since posting the above I'v driven in the pouring rain,
wheel hop has gone and you see far less of the TCS flashing.

This is a great mod and I must stress that a whopping SCN discount is available, if
you need any assistance with the discount PM me.

If you go on THS's eBay page, they have the top mounts only for £80, then on their site the dogbone mount is £55, so thats a fair bit cheaper than buying the complete set from the website

I think you'll find the dogmount eliminates this, but if you only go for the replacement bushes then you get a bit of vibration? This is what i'm led to believe anyway

Sent Ollie @ THS an email about discount on the DBM. He said that they don't offer any on the DBM, just the whole FR3 setup. But have asked about the possibility of a group buy ;)

Is it worth changing all of the engine mounts at the same time?

Gooner Mike, this is the email that Ollie sent me

Hi George

We are currently only offering discount on the Full FR3 engine mounting system. Although the dogbone mount on its own does help to control engine movement, it does not provide the same effect of the full system. The full system we are currently offering at £69 off to SCN members.

Kind Regards

Ollie
