Altea - speed sensor

Hi guys

I need some specific help on Altea 2.0TDI 2006 (model 2005???). At first sorry if my english is not so good...

There are few things... At first, the signal that the speedometer use comes from gearbox speed sensor (I think so) or from ABS sensor(I've heard about - I have ABS)???
I wanna try something specific, I want to take cable out of my gearbox speed sensor or abs sensor (maybe - but it could keep ABS from working) and possibly buy another sensor and connect it to connector but left it "out of the place" with the original in.

How can I know the product number of sensor?
Is it gearbox speed sensor or ABS related...

if we knew what exactly you are trying to do we might understand

if you want a part number of a specific item then goto your local Dealer who can check your VIN number and then tell you exactly what you need. its not rocket science

product/part number will be in the original part as with all Vag parts but i'll check it's location and info at work in the morning for you

afaik it's still gearbox sensor but again i will check and confirm for you

asfor what you need the info for i guess it's to drive it all the time and not rack up the mile's on the speedo so why not just unplug it ?

Altea_Croatia, speed sensor is on the gearbox.
I can tell U the product number of sensor - just need your VIN. But your car don't have any cables for speed data - everything is working with CAN.
But - what for "something specific"? To get speed data on digital display?
