Sorry to dig up an old thread. I'm going to pick up a 2001 Seat Leon Cupra with 104k on the clock, Full MOT, just needs tax at the end of the month, part service history, bodywork is mint, engine and gearbox are good, interior mint as well.

How does £1800 sound? :)

that sounds like the sale of the century :)

I'm well chuffed, there's a couple on ebay that have 130,000 miles on them, and they're up for £3k!

Mine's in red too, favourite colour! Picking it up tomorrow, can't wait. Early christmas present to myself!

Thats very very cheap prices have climbed back up over the last couple of months....you did well there :)

I thought so too. Have come from a 1.4 civic so can't wait to have some power again! Used to have a celica gt4 with 240bhp, only had an exhaust and filter, that thing was rapid. If i can get the cupra anywhere near that, i'll be pleased

Sounds cheap... probably worth about £2500 with the part service history. How many owners?

My 2004 LCR has done 105k now, of which 85k was motorway miles with FSSH, and apart from 1 minor dint (not even a dent!) she's perfect.
Im slowly replacing components as they go, and so far, its worked out quite cost efficient. I think its more thrifty to spend less money on a good example with high mileage, and then replace components as they go, as opposed to spending more money on a lower mileage car, modding it, and binning various components with plenty of service life remaining.
BUT, yes, im dreadding the clutch giving up... as, at the mo, im skint.
Another thing to bear in mind, is that these arent cheap cars to mod. Especially if you want it to be a sleeper or OEM+

I know being a diesel its a bit different but I just bought an 05 plate FR with 101k on all motorway ex HSBC car full service history seems to have had everything it has ever needed done to it and the leather interior is like new. I know what some people mean it does seem to get a little bit scary when the speedo gets to 100k but do what I have done cover the milage bit up just leave the trip showing made me feel alot better and you soon forget what milage it has done :D

I bought a 52-plate LCR210 for a shade under £5k with 94k miles. Although it's not massive mileage by a long shot, there are signs of wear that sometimes make me wonder whether I should've paid more for a lower mileage model. I mean, it's all in good knick, save for the Climatronic appearing to have had a soft drink poured on it (so the display doesn't work fully and the temp controls are stiff) and the steering wheel/gear-knob are fading, but otherwise it's pretty damned good. Externally it's covered in little scratches but you can't see these when you're driving!

Would I buy a car that's a couple of years newer with the same mileage though? No, personally I wouldn't

[EDIT]Sorry, didn't realise how old the original post was![/EDIT]

High millage shouldnt put you off, at least you know its had a good run! and its been through the teething problems unlike the low milage ones!

When I bought my 52 plate 1.6 S Leon in Platinum last October (6 weeks ago) I paid £1700 from eBay. 75k miles on it, and mint condition, except for wet carpets! All doors now resealed, fully dried out, and now lovin' it! (Even though a coil pack has just gone down...)
