Ibiza Cupra 1.8T induction

Hi guys

I'm not too sure but this has probably popped up before.

Induction kits for Cupra 1.8T MK4 (2007 model), what is available and which are the recommended one's to go for? I've been struggling to find anything of such.

Also, what compound or metal is used for heatshields inside the airbox? Anyone on here using an Apexi filter??

Is there nothing more to do for it though? Just for a bit more looks aswell. The green panel, is it flatbed aswell? I was looking at the Apexi cone filters, got Simota now but not all that

A few of us have just put cone filters on you will find some pics in gooner mikes and damo's readers rides with this mod you get quite loud dv dump noise.

Sounds awesome.. I need the cone filter closed though, don't know how I'm gonna find a way to close it the way the standard flatbed is... Thanks for the advise mates

I can advise you on my personal experiance.
My turbo can get really hot and if your blasting around some beautiful countryside and then pull in. Try to pull away and the airbox and air is so hot you get about 3 seconds of near total loss of power.

I get that quite alot and I'm 99% sure its down to heat soak.
I've decided to go open cone (Hear me out)

I'm having the battery relocated to the boot which is cheaper than you think! I'm then going to get silicone hosing to move the cone filter behind the passenger headlight and I'll try and construct a heat shield to help seperate it from the engine and maybe run a cold air feed from where the fog light was supposed to be!

ive been looking into the exact same thing :) but funds are permitting at the mo :cry:
 
your remap is probally whats creating your problem rather than your standard airbox.
if anything an open cone filter would create heat soak over an airbox as an airbox has an inclosed filter guarding it from any heat,where as an open cone is open to engine heat.
ive never had any problem with heatsoak with open or inclosed.
if you have a cupra then the fmic will keep the intake tempratures down as soon as your in motion anyway.

No, What I was saying is. There is problems with the remap their being ironed out.

The main problem I'm having is that if I'm bollocking it around and I come to a standstill the engine bay gets so hot the airbox is hard to touch and if its that hot when I go to pull away the car feels like its struggling.

From what I've gathered its heat soak, Its not a massive problem. The cone filter and battery is for cosmetics more than anything.

I used to run with a Green Cotton filter in a drilled airbox... but now have an open cone filter (same as Damos). Lots more noise from the turbo and DV... :clap:

No need for oil (not very good for the MAF)

your car will be pulling harder on mid-high rev range...

Everyone arround here is using cone filters...the pipercross ones are the most popular lately...its also my 3rd pipercross filter....



make sure you use a spacer between the maf and the cone filter...the longer the better...100mm reccomended...

Maf readings will be better due to more accurate-developed air flow profile through the piping

No chance of getting a 100mm silicone spacer in between MAF and filter on the FR/Cupra due to how close the battery box is.

Everyone i know is using a silicone spacer here...yes the foam filter is touching the arch-battery negative cable...no probs at all....the longer the spacer the better...

try logging with a spacer and without...
