just a small update. i have a new head unit (thanks to sportriders mishap). Its an alpine cde9882ri iirc. i also have the steering wheel control interface.

i have extended the USB connection into the glove box for my MP3 player using a standard USB extension cable.
I have full control over the MP3 player and it charges it! woo!!

looks good, if you want to hide it away from prying eyes and not in the glove box, i have re-routed mine to the back of the ashtry bit.....no one can see it and no wires!
also, did you uprate your front speakers? if so what size did you get? was it difficult to get the door card off and fit them?
mine is in the little storage tray to the right of the steering wheel, Alpine good choice I love their headunits, I wish I had the steering wheel controls my car is too old lol!
Alpine are amazing...such good sound quality! i did have mine there aimez, but found this really sweet hiding place just above the ashy tray!
i did not want mine there as when its on it glows really brightly at night and it bugs me

with all the wires and the little control box for the steering wheel controls, it was a git to fit in the small hole. im dreading the thought of when i put the bluetooth moduel and amp wiring in there
im really impressed with the unit. i was not expecting it to give me full control over my sony mp3 player as i have tried this in other head units and it does not work.
nah, i tucked mine behind the panel above the ashtry, little clips hold the bit of trim in, and can slot the ipod in there
as in the trim under the climate control pannel? so every time you want to update you have to pop that trim off?

yea, i dont update that often, as have about 6000 songs on there, have a 2gb usb stick that i put the very latest stuff on, means i use that for newer stuff (few weeks old) and the ipod for older stuff. means i take out ipod once a month
you have the secret draw under the drivers seat, I keep my glasses in there, not everyone has that draw the Seat lottery again!
it was pablo's (the SEAT building donkey) day off in the factory when mine was built and i did not get that in the FR although the 1.2 did
