I have just taken back a 1 month (690 mile) old MK6 Golf GTI - because of serious paint issues!!

I'm now in the market for something new.... not an ST, or a Type R nor an Audi, an WRX Sti or anything else that I have tried that I don't like up to yet....

However, seeing pics of the K1 and driving the mk2 185 Leon sport... I want a K1!

Where can I get a new one and how much Will I pay???

They dont make the k1 anymore.

Im sure the bodykit will reappear on the uk market with the facelift though.

tbh if i could have justified the cost of the mk6 gti in the first place then I would have made the dealer replace the faulty one with a new one, the Cupra is nice but the golf is very nice, although over priced.

They offered me a new one... I only liked the White and didn't want to go through all the hassle again if the paint was crap once more!!

So I has ALL of my money back... But now I have no car!!

How much should I be paying for a used K1 with a bout 5-600 miles on it??

And... What are the downsides to the cupra??

I've just recieved a new mk2 Cupra and the offer of a K1 was not available as standard. I had an Audi A4 before so the 'harsh' ride is not a problem for me, I don't think it's an issue which some people appear to believe, in fact I think it adds to the fun but try before you buy.
My honest opinion is that some switches feel a bit fragile (wing miror adjustment for example) but this may be the same in the Golf. I'm really pleased and have only done 100miles to date but it is really fun to drive. Bottom line, take one for a good test drive and play with all the bits which generally might bug you.

I know you mentioned second hand but the Cpra is cheap compared to the Golf and I'm sure you could order the K1 spec as an extra on the current option from new even though it's not specified. Personally, I think it's more fun to be subtle and just as fast.

If you go for new, the lead time is min 12 weeks and longer given my experience so a good used car may be favourable if you need it quickly.

You should have got a new MK6 golf mate reordered it again and got them to supply you with a courtesy car until your new car arrived.

If you want a K1 new just by a cupra and fit the kit to it. Same as without the badge, although you could buy that if you wanted and no-one would be able to tell the difference.

However, I suggest you just get a Cupra and steer clear of the BTCC Ref Sport kit!

There are plenty of nearly new K1s out there but beware they are holding their value fairly well. Particularly white ones seem to be commanding a premium.

You std cupra owners make me laugh forever banging on about the k1, cant we all just enjoy our cars? :cartman:

P.S

There is a 58 speed blue one up for sale currently at 18k. Candy white and speed blue are the best colours.

Ofcourse candy white is for the common people. The really cool people have speed blue :D

Speed blue is the danglies. Its starting to get annoying where very tom **** and harry is buying white cars. Thing is only sporty cars look good in white. A poverty spec audi a3 in white looks tosh as goes 1.6 ford focus and white toyotas.
