Lifeshine...

for those who have bought your cars from a dealer

have you had lifeshine added to your car and is it any good??

My sister had lifeshine on her Vauxhall Corsa and it flattened the paintwork making it look very dull and im a lil worried that it will do the same to mine.

im starting to wonder if its worth having this done, any thoughts??

supposed to make it easier to look after, but made bugger all difference to my car in terms of ease of washing. Bloke selling it to me said "dirt will wash off with a hose"

I've had Supagard, Diamondbrite and AutoGlym on 3 different cars and they're all much of a muchness. Only useful thing when I had my LCR was the Diamondbrite system had the interior treated with Scotchguard and after a drink spill it seemed to work, but you can still do that yourself.

Another case of easy money for the dealer and money FAR BETTER spent with a detailer / valet company like the ones who will advertise on here. Job they do is on another level.

Thanks for that i will tell the dealer not to bother, they were meant to do it before i picked my car up but they didnt have time so its meant to go in 2moro for it instead so i will just cancel it.

If you havent paid for it id get it done. My car was done free of charge when i bought it and it came with a very nice hamper of autoglym goodies to look after it with. But i wouldnt pay for it.

Looking at mine I'm not so sure it's exactly what it says on the tin. Were autoglym ever ionvolved in the process of applying?!?!?!.

If it's 2 spotty garage oeufs using autoglym endorsed products and a dirty sponge they can do more damage than good.

im on the understanding that the dealer use a specialist company to do this sort of thing as VW and Audi use the same company, so im guessing they must be good if all 3 of them use them, theyre not likely to send it to so muppet i hope lol

i have to speak to them this afternoon anyway about some paperwork so ill find out then who they use and check em out

i personally wouldnt waste the money on it
my local dealer says its no better than a quality 2 step wax and clear coat
ie auto glym/ meguiars etc
or buy the life shine kit off ebay and do it yourself

The Autoglym kit I was given also sells for about £50 in Argos lol

As said above, I personally wouldn't get it done. It is unlikely an Autoglym techy is going to be dispatched every time so it is likely the monkeys will be using a sponge etc! (mine went in for sensor replacement and they washed it - bloody swirl marks everywhere now!).

They had a 50:50 treated/not treated bonnet in the dealer and there was honestly no difference between each side from what i could tell.

As for the stuff thats comes with it, I find Autoglym stuff hit and miss anyway and prefer using Megs. In order for it to last they claim you can only use their products anyway - does not say much for its durability and makes it look more like a PR stunt...

The car wash monkey is normally a uni studant going for an ology in car washing

Unless they can gaurantee that an authorised AutoGlym valeter / detailer is going to be applying the products i wouldnt bother.

Fair play you arent having to pay for it but you'll have to pay a professional detailer to rectify any damage they cause applying the products in the wrong way.

I've been trying to find out what products are in this AutoGlym package but havent been able to so far.

Bottom line though. You'll do a better job yourself with better products and spend less (in the long run).

Tbh when my sis had it on her car it made the paint work look a whole lot worse compared to her mates car which was the same only without it!!

I must admit I was not expecting them to do anything less than the minimum (ie the warranty work). Will not make that mistake again!

just clean the car youself when you get this so called super guard the paint is really dull seen a few cars with this on not impressive really save your money!

well, ive let Seat put the autoglym lifeshine on my car, given that i wasnt paying for it and they assured me a pro would be doing not some foriegn grease monkey, i thought ok ill have it done and ill be honest theyve done a pukka job!!!

The car was gleeming, looked like new (despite the stone chips ive collected lol) but im well chuffed with the job theyve done on it.

Seat Bristol, gone right up in my estimations!!!

I recommend you do the same as me...

Dont pay £350 + from the dealer, only for their monkeys to botch it, instead buy it off Ebay...my full LifeShine pack only cost me £70 and it was fully sealed from the original factory delivery.

The contents are great apart from the interior protectant...don't bother with that one.
