Cambelt Change How To?

Hi been searching for a How to Cambelt change on Leon Cupra 20v engine? Any one have one or know of link with good how to pics etc?

if you need a guide mate, id really go to a quality garage and have it done, cant take risks on this one imho?

Hi, yep done many before...But call me old fashioned, still like to have a guide with torque figures, belt tension and nice pics before i remove covers, and where the timing marks are located and aligned.... I appreciate you get all types of Have a goers...... But rather than pay some dealer to do what i can do, i prefer that option...

Just wondered if such a guide existed? Many thanks for reply though.

Yes Haynes Mk4 Golf is really helpful.

seconded... golf mk4 covers the mk1 leon, no specific for the leon but covers 1.8t in there

This Vortex thread is a useful how to (and by far the easiest way to get the timing right imo). On the Leon, a bit of jiggling with engine on a trolley jack allows you to take the engine mount out completely, which renders things far more accessible.

I did mine on the LCR a couple of months ago and the only thing that i found to be a pain was the engine mount, it just wanted to get in the way all the time, also the access down the side isn't to good as i'm sure you have seen, as said above jacking up the engine was a great help.

Its not the easyest of jobs and not the hardest, just dont go into cam timing lol. As for belt tension there on a Hydrodamper that compensates for belt stretch. Also while doing it fit a new waterpump while it is off, and i also reccomend a AUX belt just so you dont have to remove it all again if anything goes.
