Uneven Tyre wear

Now i lowered the car around 3000 miles ago. (-45mm)

I look at the tyres yesterday as they wee getting low, and the inside on both front sides has been wore down more than the rest. As in now i need new tyres...

Apart from new tyres, what else do i need to do? I guess it's just re-tracking?

A mate just told me that there is a "thing" that i need to put in the bottom of my spring arm to make it level again... :blink:

Any help would be great :)

If you adjust the suspension at all (and i see your 45mm lower), you should get you tracking looked at. It will need re-alligned.

Either that, or its going to cost a lot on money on tyres.

Ah Tracking...That's the one! I meant to, but never got around to it... However as my tyres also need replacing anyway it's no bid deal. I assume tracking can be done when new tyres are fitted?

Yeah, but soon after i would suggest.

A full 4 wheels laser allignment should sort out any issues.

It was £80 from a secialist up my way. The only reason i went was the reputation the guy has.

Tyres wear evenly and havent had any problems, so was £80 well spent IMO.

Make sure its the laser allignment as its more accurate.

I would look at testimonals if there are any on the companies sites to see which 1 gets the most good reviews. Then go with that.

I just know the guy up my way has had cracking reputation for a number of years. My dad went to him with a Capri in 1988 and 21 years later he is still going. :lol: Legend.

I've used ATS based on recommendations. It's the full laser alignment, and only £25 too!

If you haven't done it already - fit CUPRA front wishbone rear bushes before you have it set up by anyone.
The fastest way to have the CAMBER corrected is to have the outer ball joint bolt holes slotted to bring the wheels in slightly and remove the camber you added by lowering the car.

The standard wishbone bushes on the Ibiza are crap to say the least.

The CUPRA bushes are less than £10 per side - fitting can get expensive unless you do it yourself.

When you lowered the car - you will have added camber (top of wheels lean in) - that will quickly kill the inside edge of the tyres.

To correct it you can have the bottom of the wheel pulled in by slotting the ball joint mounting holes in the wishbone.

Just shows you have much it moves around.

The four wheel re-aligning is a good idea, but when you have dropped the suspension down beyond the manufacturer's lower limit, then sorting the camber out will not always be possible unless your alignment place can, as suggested, slot the lower swivel fixing holes - or find an expensive way of pushing the top of the suspension struts out!

Had my tyres on now for about 800 miles, just not had time to get the camber sorted, when the tyres were fitted guy said the wheels were perfectly aligned.

So now I need to get these Cupra wishbones to sort teh camber issues? Any part numbers?

I am getting all this done very soon all at once, the fitting of bushes is expensive as it takes a while, to do it yourself you need a way of pressing them in or you will wreck them lol. I am getting coilovers fitted then cupra and powerflex wishbone bushes (best combination is to go with both) also top mounts and bearing changed with the coilovers and then 4 wheel alignment. Hope my car stops making creaking noses and handles and looks a bit better after this expense!
