How long should it usually take a diesel to warm up from cold on a morning

The reason i ask is because my golf is currently
(infact since i bought it)
taken generally twice as long as my LCR to warm up

mine is same engine as noted in the sig, PD150 ARL code.
takes approx 8-10miles @15min for water temp to get to 90 most mornings, oil no idea as cars these days never give a temp gauge for this and not installed one, but would guess longer

my car takes about about 10 miles to heat up to full temprature, longer on cold mornings its part of the advantage of having a car that turns most of the energy from the fuel into kinetic energy apposed to your lcr that creates a lot of heat and gets lower mpg

Thats great guys cheers
that all i needed to know, its the first diesel i've owned
and just wanted to make sure there was not something wrong

is this why i have been getting an annoying beep in the mornings?
Wasnt sure if that was anything to worry about or not, I guess not then :)

NO!

those beeps are to warn you that you coolant level is low
or more likely that your coolant sensor is faulty

Yeah I was getting those beeps too recently in the colder weather, took a look under the bonnet, and I somehow had no coolant, filled her up and good as new now!

yeah my mum works across the road at a skoda dealers, so will get it done over there make sure its nothing bad.

Those 3 beeps sometimes happen when you have crud on the metal bits that dip into the coolant.

There was a thread on here a while back where a good scraping sorted it out :)

Basically some crud from the coolant sticks to the prongs & signals that there is a low coolant issue.

Just scrape them & it should be fine.

Thread appears every year when it starts getting cold...............
