I read that the TDI's was 45mpg and I get from 45-55 on a run.

The new 1.4TSI is 44.1 combined and 53.0 on a run 35 out of my 40 mile trip in is on a motorway so am hopeful of similar granny driving mpg. Although I think with the supercharger when I give it a boot it will be significantly worse than a comparable drive in the TDI.

Combined MPG for the TDI Cupra was definitely around 53mpg:

Ah well its good to know my engine seems healthy then.

Hoping to be cutting my miles down and now Diesel seems to be creeping up again if it carrys on like it did earlier in the year petrol will be the way to go. It sounds so much better too

Well....I went from an '05 Mk IV Ibiza Cupra to an '08 Megane 225 Cup earlier this year and the Renault is far more reliable & better-built than the Ibiza was!

the megane's been a nightmare. i got it new march 08 and it's had to have a new gearbox, suspension rebuild front o/s, new engine mount and a rear window replaced under warrenty. the mrs has got a mk 5 ibiza se and interior fit and finish is much better than the meg. if the cupra's any worse i'll be v. upset to say the least!!

What do they report for the expected MPG? Something like 42-44mpg IIRC?

As an aside the Ibiza Cupra TDI's claimed MPG was 52mpg but I usually saw 47-49mpg when driving carefully. The Megane's claimed MPG is 33 but I see 34-35mpg when driving carefully. Not bad given the performance.

Be interesting to see the Mk V Cupra's real-world MPG as I know the Mk IV Cupra 1.8T's was quite poor from what I read on here.

How can we tell you're thrashing one and not the other? From personal experience of selling new cars, the engines MPG's in the brochures are calculated with the engine on a stand (like you see at the motor show for example).

Then they use a full tank of fuel and run the engine under urban and extra urban conditions until the tank runs dry continuously. This will indicate what MPG the engine itself is capable of producing.

This could obviously not be replicated in real life, due to individual driving-style, road conditions and all other paramaters not taken into account when the tests take place.

Summary: each driver will get a different MPG from their vehicles in comparison to what the brochure tells you it is capable of

Can you not read?

As stated, when DRIVING CAREFULLY I saw around 48mpg in the Cupra TDI (claimed 53mpg combined cycle) and when DRIVING CAREFULLY in the Megane 225 Cup I see around 34mpg (claimed 33mpg combined cycle).

Summary: The Megane can achieve closer to it's claimed combined mpg in my real-life situation than the Cupra TDI could, which was my point....what's yours?

TBH as long as its within 4-5mpg that will do me fine. I really good at driving progressively as i've managed silly mileage in all of my recent cars. The trip in is pretty flat also so that helps.

Got my hands on out demo fr today and 60mph driving i was getting round 37mpg and Trashing 30 ish so not to bad, its only done 220 miles

Very similar to my current motor then. On a good motorway & A-road run down to Swadlincote & back I got over 40mpg but around Manchester driving to work & back it's more like the 34-35mpg I've already mentioned.

Be good to hear from Mk V Cupra & Boc owners what they achieve when they collect their motors.

Its looks amazing! So eye catching. Didn't like the alloys in the pics but in real live they really suit the car. The interior is spot on and seems a lot better quality than my current cupra.

Looks like it has a FMIC as there are no slits in the wheel arch and there is a long thin intercooler looking radiator infront of the main radiator.

There is not a draw under the drivers seat which is a shame as its very handy in my current car.

The paddles feel nice rather than flimsy as I read in one review.

The roof seems pretty low (not a problem for me) but it is one to watch for tall people.

The seats have the same amount of adjustment as usual in all the VAG range cars.

ANYONE fancy doing a photoshop to lower it a little

Its not the cheapest but it'll be very nice. Thinking of adding on the bluetooth. Not bothering with the sun roof. Tempted to get it done in black vinyl though.

It need lowering so badly! Coilovers will be going on depending on what sort of effect it'll have on the warranty.
