Yep, been following other threads on here which talk about having the whole shebang ripped out and like you, having full new system in. Like this. Any news on how this will affect MOT though? I know they measure soot from my 15 years of driving dervs, but will the new system pass the soot test? Do they measure any of the NOX which the DPF/CAT is supposed to sort? I would imagine the soot would pass (seeing as my old Pug 309 and ZX passed) but are any of the other emissions tested under the latest MOT tests? :confused:

I'm hoping to keep my FR for a few years yet and don't want to shell out £800-odd notes if it is going to fail the MOT come 2011... :(

No probs with MOT

When I get mine serviced in 3k miles. I will be supplying the oil, filters etc. myself. Then you know you have got the right thing.
I work in the motor trade and know of several franchises that use non genuine parts etc. when servicing then charge for genuine. Also they just stick 10w-40 semi-synth in everything, never look up to see what it should be getting.

Better to be safe I would say, and it will prob work out cheaper
 
When car was serviced they used Castrol Edge 5W-30 - used 1 litre bottles and gave me what was left out of the fifth bottle.

Just dropped it off at the dealers, they're going to try to sort it today. They've booked it in as "Warranty work" so hopefully I won't have to shell out.

Got a new 59 plate Leon 1.4 petrol with only 400 miles on the clock to keep me amused while they do the work... Sounds like there's a sewing machine under the bonnet. Nice and tidy handling though - and smooooth riding compared to my FR. Gutless mind. Don't think I'll swap. :)

Hope everything gets sorted for you... i think i'm going to have to read up on this DPF thingy ma bob. i have a Leon FR tdi on order and dont fancy having it into the dealers on a regular basis.
 
Got the OK to collect my FR late this afternoon and was very pleased to be told that all the work would be covered under the warranty. Phew! :D

As a couple of you rightly guessed, it was the sensor sending duff readings, so it was replaced and the ECU upgraded. The mechanic took it out on the road and it cleared itself very quickly, DPF warning light went off in seconds. Re-checked and all readings were fine. Had a long blast cross-country on way back home and she seems her good old grunty self.

So if the MOT test is no problem with the DPF gone I think that must be next on my shopping list. ;)

Remove DPF from exaust, cut it open with the angle grinder, knock out the internal gubbins with the air chisel, weld casing back up and refit......jobs a good un!!!

Is yours remapped any why?? co's I have been thinking of cutting the DPF open and removing the internals but have held back due to possible sensor issues. . ....................................

Mines a cat D 2007 plate...No service history or paperwork only reg doc so I dont know if its been remapped....Was havin big probs with fault codes n stuff also DPF light came on so myy mate cut DPf open and gutted it....welded it up and put it back on car...light went out and car runs great now...The probs I was having turned out to be crushed fuel line which caused fuel starvation (was very much like limp mode which threw us a bit!!) probably cos its a cat D
