Hi
Earlier this year I bought a cat D Leon FR 170bhp. Got it for the right money so I thought it was worth a punt. Car ran spot on for the first few weeks and I was really chuffed with it. Then the fuel gauge stopped working (was stuck on full) so I just run fuel down acording to mileage then filled it up. One day we set off to Scarborough and got about 5 miles and thought we ran out of fuel. Mate came with a gallon of diesel and we were on our way again. Got there and back to Scarborough, fine. Next day car went into my mates garage for tyres and fuel gauge to be fixed. Turned out that the sender unit in the tank had dissintigrated so they cobbled it back together and it worked. On the way to deliver car back to me it cut out again, they kept car to check it out. Couldn't find owt up with it had the car for 7 weeks. Changed every sensor imagiable, MAF, N75, checked for vac leeks but still the same. Every time they test drove it, it set off like f*** then seamed to go into limp mode. Even bought a second hand turbo cos we thought it might be sticky vanes. Anyway, to cut a long story short it ended up being a kinked fuel pipe not far from the fuel tank, hidden by some plastic trim!!! So it was just fuel starvation in the end. So if you're having similar problems E.G "limp mode" like symptoms it may be worth checking this out to save any heart ache, also its cheap fix. Luckily for me it's my mates garage so we sent all the different bits back, but it could have been an expensive bit of kinked pipe!! Cars great now, really chuffed with it just a little problem with the remote locking, sometimes works, sometimes don't, key fob light flickers so I don't think its battery, anyone any ideas?? Also, I'm wondering if it's been re-mapped as it seems really rapid, not that I'm complaining, does anyone know how I could find out if this is so??? Would VAGCOM pick it up??
Cheers Dave

North Lincolnshire.
Not suggestin it could be a cut n shut are ya. lol.
Vagcom should pick up problem mate.
I thought same about my car maybe being remapped as it is fk1n rapid. FR GET IT. but they are just very quick I reckon. The difference with remaps unless I'm wrong is not all that noticeable apart from much more grunt torque, and mpg obv:
Now you know what fr stands for. Just joshin,it's formula racing actually.

No, not suggesting it is a cut and shut, he says it is a CAT D write off. I have done a few up in my time and one of the problems is they always move them around on fork lifts hence the damage to sill spoilers, brake pipes, fuel pipes etc

No its not cut n shut I don't think....had HPI checked and everthing matches up. I had the same thoughts about the pipework. I had a Cupra R 225bhp before this, bought it from new. That was quick but to be honest it don't seem much quicker than the FR. Quickest diesel I've been in. Getting bout 38-40 mpg, don't know how that compares with you lot??? I'll try the battery clips but I can't see it bein that cos the red fob lights flashing.
Cheers
