ipod cradle/cable

Hello, I have just ordered my new ibiza sport and the dealer told me I need a ipod cradle costing £65 which I think this must be. So do I need to buy a cradle just to use the CUP system? Can I not just use a normal USB ipod cable?

Iv just ordered the fr and asked the same question as i didnt really see the point, but according to the dealer it is becuase apple encode their music differently to everyone else, ie aac not wma etc, so you have to get the cradle to convert it into something that the usb port can read, not sure whether its true or they were just giving me any answer. i couldnt justify spend £35 on the kit then £65 on the cradle when you can sped £4 and an aux lead and listen to it that way,

Hmm I think I will be taking a look at his cradle before I pay out £65 for it.
