Good Afternoon All,

Just a quick question. Will a Jetex 3" Downpipe from a Golf GTI MK5 fit a Leon Cupra
MK2??

I already have a 3" Milltek Cat-Back and would like to mate a Jetex 3" Downpipe without any modifications.

Many Thanks

RickyD

I would take a bet and say

The Milltek downpipes are interchangeable between the Golf and Leon, so I would be surprised if Jetex was not. You may need to look at some sort of link pipe between the downpipe and cat back though but the likes of powerflow etc would be able to do that for you.

Cheers DJ,

So would you say £300 for a used one is a good deal? Piper offered me a new one for £500 last December.

Actually after checking, it was £400 that Piper offered me last year:cry::cry:

Assuming it is in good condition (check supports etc) and hasnt been to the moon and back miles wise or had a turbo explode through it, £300 is reasonable in my opinion. Being a Scotsman, I would probably haggle it down if possible though ;)

Last question before going for this downpipe.

The Jetex dowpipe in 3". Is the Milltek 3" I/D or 3" O/D, I'm assuming that both will be the same connections on Jetex/Milltek?

If they aren't I will require a small connection pipe to mate them together.

Cheers

On the Milltek, the 3" downpipe is part number MSAU342. The connecting pipe is MSAU343. As memory serves, the MSAU342 downpipe is 3" to the end, and the MSAU343 acts as a reducer from 3" to 2.75" for the rest of the system. As for whether it is inside or outside diameter, I cant remember, but I am sure a quick call to Milltek will confirm ;)

It is the MSAU343 type pipe I think you might need to match them. If it was me, I would just get one made as it is sure to be cheaper than the likes of an MSAU343 pipe and it will be guaranteed to fit.

Thanks again djhorace/stevetdi for you quick response.

Cannot believe I was about to commit to getting the downpipe and when I went onto ebay it had been sold. The guy had the full jetex exhaust system, carbonio intake, forge dump valve and some other Golf GTI MKV bits on buy it now. After looking the lot was sold.

I could have possibily been a dealer?

I'll keep my eyes open for another.

In the meantime I've asked Piper Exhausts if they can do one for the £400 that Gary offered last year. He's left the copmany, so they'll probably want the full price on the net which is near £600.

Why are these exhausts so expensive?

Cheers

If you snooze, you loose with a lot of this kit especially on something as new as a MK2 Cupre where add on parts are a rare as rocking horse crap.

Downpipes are expensive because cats are expensive. That said, I am pretty sure a Milltek/Jetex etc downpipe would be cheaper than a new OEM downpipe.

Too true DJ:cry::cry:

I've just obtained a quote from Piper and they want £517.50 for their downpipe.

I will just have to keep my eyes very open for a used one.

Cheers for all for advice and this one.
