Bonnet/Hood Release Problem.

Hey all.
I hope this is the right thread but i got a problem with my Ibiza.
I went to open the bonnet and the release cable appeared of of snapped right by the latch.

I can see the latch by sticking my head underneath the car but i cant reach it with anything.
Tried using wire coat hangers to yank it free but no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Had the same problem myself....

This only applies if you have a GTI, normal spec bumper is probably different.

Remove the fog light surrounds, from here you can undo the screws for the centre section. You can then get your hand up to the catch.

You'll feel two tabs on the front of the mechanism, squeeze them together, and she'll pop!!

Other spec models (1.4, 1.6, diesel, Tdi) all use the same bumper as the GTi. Only difference is the the Gti has the fogs as you said.

So that method will also apply to the lower spec models.

I wont have time to fix it until tomorrow so woop woop.
Plus 16vLeroy, i googled up pics of your car and it seems to be the exact same bumper etc =-)
How ever, i would probably preffer the GTi =-D

Thanks guys, all f ixed! I also put a golf latch i found from a scrappy on as it was in far better condition =-)

I spent a long time pinching what i though was the tab thinking Phaww this is rock solid. but then i soon realised *Embarassed*
