Clutch - anyone know if these are any good

My re-maped FR TDI clutch has been on its way out for a while.
I have started looking at the costs and am thinking that Sachs clutch and DMF at the same times would be sensible. Had mixed opionions on changing flywheel at the same time so comments welcome.

I E-bayed "CLUTCH KIT AND FLYWHEEL SEAT LEON TDI 2001-2005" and came up with a sachs clutch and flywheel from AZcarpartuk for £399.

Anyone know exactly what it is and if its any good? The price seems to good for it to be correct. My engine code is ARL so it would fit I think.

Otherwise I will be forking out £1000 plus including fitting.

Thanks in advance.

Why not consider a sachs uprated clutch (goof for 400ftlb) if you intend to mod and remap the car etc, only makes sense ;)

i have a sachs uprated clutch, my ibiza cupra tdi was remapped on the standard clutch and it use to slip like mad when i put my foot down. with the uprated clutch its doesn't slip at all.

i would recommend a sachs uprated clutch with a remap.

I was on a new clutch that had only done 10k when my leon was mapped to 365lbft and it slipped within 3 days. Dont bother as a sachs organic can be had for under£500.

The car has a remap and was putting out 201Hp when it was done.

The clutch I found on E-bay is listed as Genuine Sachs with warranty including a flywheel.

I just wondered if anyone knew exactly what I would be getting or if anyone had bought from this seller before.

I can find the sachs organic clutch and cover plate for sub £500 but this seemed to be a clutch and flywheel for sub £400. Am I just being stupid and missing the catch.

surely the one on ebay that you are looking at will be a direct replacement ie same as standard and if your standard one is slipping why replace it with something the same that is probably going to slip very soon after fitting, i would buy the schs organic and be done with it then at least you know its not going to slip

Sachs make a standard type clutch, which in kit form is around £130.
Dmf is around £200.
That kit IS NOT an organic unit and will not reliably hold over 300lbft.

Thanks for the advise Glynnd I think you confirmed what I had suspected.

A to Z sell a sachs kit on Ebay inc Flywheel. Listed as Uprated Performance clutch. I called them an was told it would handle up to 300Lb ft of torque so no good for me.

I am thinking the Sachs clutch from CBP and an OE flywheel may be my chosen route.

I am not sure if Up-rated flywheels are available as well?

You might want to consider SMF options as well. Sometimes a little bit noisier when in neutral with pedal out, but you can get a kit able to handle a lot of power and it won't cost nearly as much.

As we all should know its not the power that kills the clutch but the torque.
I currently have a sachs organic from CBP with a std (but new at the time of fitting the uprated stuff) sachs DMF
I recently had my car at Jabba for a remap tweak with the result of 514nm(391lbft) and the clutch and dmf are handling no problems..............So far anyway!
