Best bet would be to get a laptop with the free version of Vag-Com software and the cable off eBay and run diagnostics to see what faults have been logged.

Is the engine light on?

check to see if coil pack has popped up a bit higher than others, or take them out and check connection underneath if it is black new coil pack mate

really cos when a pipe went on mine it wouldnt even idle it would just cut out, it wasnt goin anywhere, could be a large boost leak but tbh we could be here all day guessin unless we have a look at the car or vagcom it

Wouldn't idle no but it would be drivable to a certain extent. If you unplug the MAF you can run with a boost pipe off if things get desperate like it did with me when I had my spring clamps and nothing but my hands to get it back on... Jubilees in there now and a 7mm socket in the boot!

the problem seemed to happen when i uses unleaded instead of unleaded v power. does this matter? cant get it vaged because the car wont drive.

cracked it got the software running on my laptop cleared all fault codes took it for a spin. came back one fault code lambda sensor. does that sound correct?
