Roof racks have been discussed before and result in a possible crimping effect on the roof so their are no seat made Ibiza roof racks made any more. As for the rear bars I brought one from Halfords a while ago its OK but not the best, my bike was only a cheep one so not to bad. I think if you do a search this has been covered before with different options like tow bars etc.

Ive searched the forum and no posts were specific to the mk4 Ibiza 3dr.
I was looking to stay away from the tow bar option.what was meant by the crimping effect on roof rack?

Basically some of the roof racks kink the roof of the Ibiza’s due to a design defect. i have been through the bike/Ibiza dilemma and many different racks etc the best solution was the tow bar. Strap on boot racks you can’t use due to the boot spoiler on the Ibiza’s.

I had Thule aero roof bars & fittings on my Mk4 (which was a 3 door), and they were fine.

The clamp for the front bar fits in the door aperture, the rear clamp fits above the rear side window glass.

If you get the aero bars (which I'd recommend over the cheaper square ones - much less noise & drag) - just check that whetever bike racks you intend to use will fit the bars, as the bars are quite wide.

Basically some of the roof racks kink the roof of the Ibiza’s due to a design defect.

I believe that was a problem with the Seat bars (made by Atera, I think ?).

Pretty certain there are no such problems with the Thule attachments.

Hi,

Ive had a bike rack for the rear boot of the car around 4-5 years now, got from' 'Decathlon' activity superstore. holds upto three bikes on the rear. The attachment is 6 straps hooked onto corners of rear door. Have a search to see if they still do them or possibly try ebay.also doesn't get in the way of lights or reg plate.

Just seen decathlon rack on ebay but its the one that holds 5 bikes,its still the same design tho, so happy bidding. I paid about 30 quid for mine, happy bidding.

Strap on boot racks you can’t use due to the boot spoiler on the Ibiza’s.

Not true mate, I regularly use a 6-strap Halfords type to carry 1 or two bikes on my Cupra. Straps don't touch the spoiler.

Halfords currently have my carrier on offer, think its about £60

will this decathlon rack fit the 3dr model?and also my ibiza has a small spoiler will this not affect this rack?

Mine is a 07 cupra, 3 door. Shouldn't have any issues mate.
