Not necessary but heavily advised, SEAT recommend 4 years or 60k
Water pump more accessible with cambelt removed and pump not the best quality either, try a metal impellored one
Other than that bushes and bearings will become warn
Any knocking, etc you have could be excessive play in these

Awesome GTI do a cambelt kit including a metal impellored water pump
They are site sponsors so see if they could do you a deal

ohh will do thanks buddy will get right on it tomorrow but then have the problem of getting someone to fit it. Read a post on here that Seat dealer is approx £290 fitted so may be worth just getting them too do the lot.

I am planning on replacing all bushes with powerflex. Already done the db so all the others need to be done. Think the front arm bushes are worn on mine as I am getting inner tyre wear and the tracking is spot on. Done 56k

60k service should be engine oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, and brake fluid, afaik.

Cambelt (incl. tensioner and roller) and waterpump should be replaced every 4yrs/60k also. Your car is 5yrs old so this should be done asap.

Other things to consider that aren't on the service schedule are fuel filter and gearbox oil, which don't hurt to replace.

I'm pretty certain the VAG pump has plastic impellors, but they run an exchange policy so you give them your old water pump and get a new one quite cheaply. If you do this every 4yrs there's nothing to worry about.
