mk1 leon 180bhp, is it fr or cupra??

hi i was just wondering as my mates and i are confused over a discussion, i have the mk1 seat leon 2004 180bhp, and i was wundering as it says on the log book that its a fr cand some help in answering is it acctually and fr or is it the cupra? cause i read on another site that the cupra r is the cupra and the cupra is the fr, im so confused please help :p

the CUPRA became the FR shortly before the new shape Leon was released. Whether or not it is a CUPRA or an FR I dont know.... if you have the CUPRA R bumper + Wheels, then its the FR. (If any of this is wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me ! lol)

In 2004 the Cupra became the FR, both had the same 180bhp engine. There were no differences in the car apart from the badges, wheels, the mirror covers were silver on the FR and the interior was updated in the FR. An FR+ was made at around this time and included a Cupra R Bodykit but 17" versions of the Cupra R wheels, it was still an FR in every other way although I am not sure it was a petrol, I think the FR+ may have been a diesel only.

mine is the FR...

same engine and body as the cupra, but different wheels, different mirrors, and single slot headunit and no changer

there is also a deisel FR with the same body, but obviously a diesel engine

thanks for the help, i was a litle confused thats all cause it has got the fr badges on the side and its the late 2004 model (54 plate) ands its petrol, i didnt get it cause on my log book and on my insurance its classed as a seat leon fr so dose this mean my model was just after the cupra then?? ill add pictures to show you the car when my camera is fixed. thanks for the help

yeh, mines a 54 plate to, they started making them september 2004, they were basically a cheaper alternative to the cupra R before the mk2 leon came out, and by re-naming it the FR made it seem like a new model

so what your saying adam is that mine is the fr because it would save alot of confusion if it was hehe, it was made in sept 04.

thanks adam youve helped alot :) i was so confused as some of my mates said it was the cupra and others were like nah its the fr which i thought it was in the first place. thanks again :)

aye thats what i fort as its got fr badges on the sides by the indicatiors and says it on the log book fr so i was adament it was lol now im proven right, but i gotta admit it dose pretty much look exactly the same as a cupra cause who ever had it before me must of put the starfish alloys on it or do they come as standard?
