Ibiza 1.4 S Ticking noise

I bought a Ibiza 3dr 1.4S with 80k on the clock the other day for the missus, it needed some work and MOT. I got the car through the MOT with a new backbox, tyre and some bits and bats. The engine was fine until the other day when i heard the engine started to make a engine ticking noise. I put some Wynns Hydrualic Treatment in and it didnt help. I dropped the oil yesterday which was very fine and looked like the engine flush you get from GSF. I changed the filter and put some 10/40 Fuchs oil in with 2 Wynn Treatments and still the same. I've driven the car to Liverpool and it drives fine but the noise is annoying me. Im assuming its the tappets or do i need to change something else? If it is the tappets, can i change them myself and can anyone guide me?

I have had the same noise for about three years and 25,000 miles, i'm afraid you gunna have to learn to love it!
I think its the tappets but unless you wanna spend a fortune I wouldn't worry about it, the car still drives fine, just sounds a bit hagged!

since youve tried all the oil stuff already have a look at the exhaust manifold,i had the same noise for months and messed aroud with oil flushes and filters thinking it was tappet related. Finaly turned out to be the exhaust gas popping out of a tiny hairline crack right at the flange of the manifold, never thought exhaust leak could make that noise like tappets but there you go. might be an idea before you go buying and fitting lifters.

I got the tappets done on the weekend, cost me £140 but happy now that there isnt no noise now. But there is an issue with the front pipe, its been welded on the flange where it connects to the manifold. Car sounds off and its burning more petrol than it should do, so im getting that rewelded on wednesday and hopefully that should be it.
