Hey guys, does anyone on here work as a panel beater/work in a spray shop? or had their leon sprayed recently?

I've got loads of stone chips on my bonnet, front bumper, front wings on my Leon cupra and wanted to know firstly whether its a body shop job, or whether it can be done by one of those mobile guys.

secondly a rough idea on cost just a ballpark figure

thirdly a time scale for something like that to be completed...ie couple of days or a week ?

any help greatly appreciated

How big are the stone chips? My red LCR had little white speks of stone chips all over the front bumber and bonnet. I used a product called dr colorchip and its worked wonders. In the kit you get a custom matched touch up paint and a 'sealact' remover. I used a cloth and smeared the paint across the affected area. Leave for an hour and then use the sealact to remove the excess paint whilst leaving the chips filled up. I've been very impressed with the results and so has the other half. You can only notice some slight imperfections if up close. It also works quite well on scratches. But its not so good on larger chips. Its been a month since I used mine and its still looking good.

ideally to get it mint your going to have to do a full front end, this would be the bonnet taken to primer as the bumper would be, re primed, flatted and then painted, colour would go into the wings taking care of 90% of the chips, most chips are near the headlights.

price wise varies from north to south,

we charge £300+vat for a full lifetime warrenty manufacturer approved job ( dupont water based)
but down south this can easily double, for lesser materials

£300 +vat for the bonnet, bumper and taking the colour into the wings is actually alot cheaper than i thought! That might be the way forward.

I'm afraid I didnt take any before pictures of it to show how bad it was before. I got the full kit from http://www.drcolorchip.com. Its comes to about £55 shipped. If you look at the demo photo's mines was as bad as that before and its turned out very well. Also, search for dr colorchip on google and theres plenty of forums talking about the product and some have before and after pics. I've used it on the whole front bumber, sections of the bonnet and also various scratches and I've still got about a third of it left. Its very good on small 'speckled' stone chips. My red LCR shows up bad before due to the white primer contrasting. You will always get more stone chips even if you get a respray so my thinking was this would be good enough to touch up ever so often. Theres another product called Langka which I;ve also tried but's not as good as colorchip.
