I've received this error on my PD150 today.

17055 - Cylinder 1 Glow plug - Electrical fault.
I've only scanned the engine controller but that is the only code so far.

Any chance this can be pinpointed to one problem? If it's just the glow plug itself how easy is it to change? Is it just a case of removing the cam cover to get to them?

Cheers.

Read this::

and then this:

and also read through the previous glow plug threads -
i know i had one and replaced the harness & worth replacing the glow plugs themselves (all 4, not the single)
not a difficult job but can take a while to do

Thanks oldman.

I took it for a little drive earlies and noticed nothing wrong. I cleared the code and went out again and did not notice anything different. After several starts it did not come back on again. If it's just a glowplug fault (or wiring) I guess it's not urgent. I imagine it will have no real problems starting on a cold morning with 3 out of 4 working.

I removed the engine cover this morning and then the glowplug harness. All the glowplugs were in properly. I didn't take them out as don't have a deep socket in that size. I got a quote of £15 each for the glowplugs from a local place. If the light comes back on I will probably look for a place online to purchase them.

some may say lala land....
the price is for each and is in line with what i did
after changing plugs though, the harness went about 3montsh later - seems to be common

will make cold starting more difficult as well from reading other threads

may be worth doing now before winter kicks in

Just got this exact problem myself. I'll do the test on the weekend to find out if its the glow plug or harness. I reckon at 80k miles it might well be the plug though. Cleared the DTC yesterday, but it came back on again tonight.

I've been away few days. The light came back on twice in the last 4 days. I took my laptop with me so that I could scan for codes again if need be. Both times it returned 17055 on cylinder 1. I'm going to contact the parts departments at my local garages this afternoon or tomorrow.
