I'm buying parts to do the conversion on my FR from 288 to 312.
I've been told that I only need Carriers,Discs and Pads,
I've searched the forum and looked at several pictures and I've noticed that my calipers dont look like the ones used on the 312mm conversions
mine say Lucas on them does this mean I need to get calipers AND carriers
Cheers

You can get the calipers second hand off ebay for cheap as chips. The front calipers fitted to a mk4 Golf 1.8T/130pd/150pd are exactly the same as the 312 ones, all that differs are the carriers.
You'll probably find they are fitted to quite a wide range of VAG vehicles; my Passat only required carriers for the 312mm conversion, so I suspect a large number of Passats/A4s/A6s etc out there will be suitable donors too.

you guys certain? As I will have to pay a garage to do this and no way I am messing with brakes I wouldn't know what I was doing and if I get the wrong parts I'd have to pay them to put it back together then strip it all down again!

for £20 extra you can get the same set up but with new pads and disc,

and you would have to be lucky to get the right disc on the right pads with that setup as you not realy ment to swap pads about,
