Possible Electrical Fault

Hi Guys,
I need some help and advice I think. Ultimately, it's prob gonna end up with a mechanic, but i'd like to troubleshoot it first and if I can fix it - Awesome!

Basically, I've noticed my steering right and left has been a bit funny. When I turn right, espec at lower speeds, the steering feels tight and a bit heavy. Steering left is easier, but if I am going going quickly (not fast, just 30mph+) round a corner it fights a little to go back straight. It's not very bad, not undriveable or anything, but will need sorting. Anyway - that was a few weeks ago. I was driving home the other night and turned right. The power steering just gave up - turned off completely - no warning lights or anything, just felt like I couldn't steer and felt like I'd lost power. I changed down a gear and pulled over. Switched the car off then on and it was fine and has been since.

Then, my brake fluid light was coming on for about 10 seconds. Mostly when I started the car but then it happened whilst driving. That seems to of stopped and i'd checked the fluid levels and it was fine - not long changed in fact.

Then I started the car up in the morning and the car didnt just "start" - it turned over and acted like the battery was almost dead - all lights came on as usual on the dash when it starts, but faded like not enough power, then starts ok. This resets all the clock and stuff as if it lost the permanent live.

As if that's not weird enough, tonight I was driving along and I noticed the centre part of the screen wasn't working right. In the centre console, where it shows the car and the temp of the climate control and the AC sign and fan etc, it just said OFF. So i put the air con on, put the temp up, put the fans up then down and nothing showed.. just said OFF. So I pulled over and turned the car off, then back on. Same thing. Then I turned it off, then on turning the key slowly - back to normal - the screen worked fine.

I assume I have an electrical issue somewhere - could just be the battery or battery terminals, but would this account for all the problems above? PAS failing, problem with steering, starting, warning lights for no reason (as far as I can tell) and now the screen??

Help appreciated.
Cheers
:help:

P.S. This is my 2nd cupra and i've owned and driven this one for a year, so I know how it "should' feel when normal - don't think I am imagining anything!! lol

Update....

Went to Garage today and they tested the battery. Apparently when the car is off is says the battery is bad and needs replacing and no charge (almost) and when its on its at 13.67v and is charging. So, alternator is fine, battery needs replacing.

Would this be the cause of all these problems? PAS/error etc?

If it had electric power steering like the later models and Poxhall then i'd say Hell Ye, as it hasn't i can only suggest it was so flat dead the alternator was struggling to keep your car running and the drag on that was in turn affecting the pas pump

Update 2 - not that anyone's reading this apart from you... but, changed the battery. Old one was absolutely impossible to get out!! took ages. Anyway, fitted the new one and everything seems better! Starts well, stereos fine, no errors, even the steering feels better. Im hoping that last one isnt my imagination

So instead of SEAT's "possible £500" figure, i spent £37!

Only one concern: the old battery ws a 480A 60Ah and new one is 360A 41Ah. It's a Bosch and Eurocarparts said its the right one, but seems quite a bit less power on paper. It's working absolutely fine right now and i dont use an Amp or powered Sub or anything other than standard and the phone charger in the 12V socket. Should be ok shouldnt it?
