Which Induction Kit?

Just bought be an awesome LCR, looking into the mods already...

First things first....induction kit. I've been recommended the Neuspeed P-Flo one, but that does seem really expensive for what it is.

Is there really much difference between that, and say the K&N 57i kit?

Which induction kits are you running?

I have not long had my LCR and spent ages searching these forums, this question has been debated so many times.

Just have a quick search, some people will prefer standard air box with uprated filter where as others like an open cone for the "wooosh" sound, but then that may suffer from heat soak, there are so many options, no real answer.

I have a standard air box with an uprated green filter.

i love the sound from my 57i kit, and have no issues from MAF fault codes, but having said this, it should have a st1 remap and R/R very soon so maybe that will help givin you some figures all be it a 2001 auQ cupra
if the power is down il be making some sort of shield like jabba or neuspeed lol

I was always advised to steer away from the "oiled" filters, as particulates of the oil basically clog the maf up over time.

Im running a Quikshift Cone C, which is very fine stainless mesh, no oil. Had it on for nearly 2 years, no problems.

Each to their own, lots of others around.

Nick, the P-Flo is tried and tested on an audi forum and came out the best. Depending on furture plans i'd be weary about putting those carbon ones one as there have been other tests proving they are the most restrictive.

I got the Apexi one on that above link joined to a 70mm alloy pipe that sits it down behind the bumper......its great!

What I did was buy a induction kit for a golf turbo, threw the crap cone filter and crap rubber joiners away and just used the intake pipe and the SAI pipe adaptor

I emailed quite a few places and the pipe diameter ranged from 2.25 to just under 2.75" so I bought the biggest one 70mm

I then bought a decent 70mm silicon coupler to match my TIP and FMIC couplers then a 3" to 2.75" reducer to fit the apexi filter to the pipe.

Here are my pics..you obviously can't see the filter because its behind the bumper [right behind the foglight]

The original kit comes with a adaptor to enable the SAI pipe to still run into the intake pipe so you can keep it OEM....ish

The pipe is this kit ......well worth the price just for the pipe and SAI adaptor its mandrel bent and seems well made, obviously you wouldn't use the filters.

This I was gonna buy in black but at this price for a blue one and the fact you can't see it I crumbled!

Everything fits perfect apart from the top mounting bracket you can see on the pipe so I just made the bracket you can see up to hold it......to be honest it doesn't need it as the other bracket holds it perfectly well enough but it looked a bit funny not going to anything.

I'm very very happy with it as although it cost a few quid to make up i feel I've got a very good kit at the end of it......sounds the nuts to!

A few people on here are running a stainless mesh type filter and I haven't heard any complain. I personally believe that oil is the bigger killer of MAF's than dirt so can't see too much if any harm being caused by running this type of filter

A filters job is to filter tho and not let dirt through.......

True and it is still filtering some dirt just not as great as some of the other filter types. What I am getting at is that I can't see it causing too much harm in the way people make out

I don't understand where ppl get their "facts" from... I've used K&N conefilter for 6+ years now on different cars. Never had any problem whatsoever...

Dirt may not kill MAF's but it can kill engines and turbos
