Using aux input with new headunit?

Im getting a new head unit for the ibiza next month, b'day present from gf :D I dont know if all ibiza's have the aux input behind the handbrake but mine does. What i want to know is how does this input connect to the alana headunit and can it be connected to the new headunit i get so i can still use it?

Also i might fit a kicker sub+amp i have but would like it installed so its hidden away or built in to the boot contours some how, does anybody know of any good custom ice installers in the manchester/north west area?

Thanks

Hi mate, you can get iPod / iPhone compatible head units really cheap, ones that will control / charge them too.

Don't forget with aux, all your doing is playing whats on the iPod manually, you can't change track, rewind, forward etc plus it doesn't charge the iPod either!

As SeanyK said (above), your better off just getting a iPod compatible headunit that can control the iPod and ignoring the AUX in jack behind the handbrake! The headunit will have the necessary connections so the jack you use now will be useless.

check out the 'alpine IDA' range, I've just ordered a 'alpine ida-x301' which should be arriving Monday. They have decent reviews and sound ideal for what you want :)

if your new hu supports aux in (without having a port at the front) then it should pick up the aux in automatically as it's wired into the loom. check out my thread to see my Pioneer hu

I had the alpine ida x100, the ipod connection worked, but the aux in didnt, and i still wanted to use the aux for watching videos, I also couldnt get the steering wheel controls to work, even though i ordered the leads that were recommended.

Thats the reason I havnt bothered changing from the standard HU, i use both those features regularly

for sub - contact http://www.autoacoustics.com/ they dont list an enclosure to fit the mk4 boot, but worth a call to see if they do one and its just not listed on their web site

stuff from there is top notch, had a shelf off them a few years back, could just get one of those with some big speakers

i got quoted over £1k to have a one-off for my mk4...they said it was due to no templates being available for the model and a lot of time goes into it.

they put it down to not having enough demand from mk4 owners
