2.0ltr Sport TFSI vs ye ol' VVTL-i (!)

Here goes..

Now in the market for something along the lines of a Mk2 Leon 2.0 Sport TFSI but can't decide whether it'll have a higher fuel consumption than my other option: Corolla T-Sport VVTL-i.

I've driven the CTS and looks like on my 16mile commute I'll hit around 25-28mpg (not helped by sitting at a high rpm in 6th). After searching these boards I can find lots of details on the TFSI FR spec which appears to achieve similar values to the CTS. However, I can find very little on the Sport trim, so, has anyone got decent first hand experience of the mpg I can expect from one?

It'd be nice to know if its possible to keep it somewhere in the 30s when the need arrises.

what type of driving do you do, and what type of roads traffic is your commute?

Commuting along B roads ~ 16mile each way, probably driving enthusiastically so as to not take ages.

I guess I'm probably more interested in the long journey ability for those odd 400mile trips where the difference could be felt more.

hi Mate

I was getting high (had it for 18mths) 20's from mine on journeys like that with 32 or 33 showing on a motorway run.

As said you'll only get over 30mpg on longish to long runs! Mine used to sit at around 27/28 for mixed runs until i had revo the other day (now does about 26ish but i'm kinda loving the revo atm).
