Adjusted the headlights, tightened 1 bolt and changed the brake pipe and it passed :) with a far shorter list of advisory's lol. The guy did say he wouldn't have failed it on the steering and thought the original guy had been a bit harsh but it's all tightened up now anyway

What rubish is that on the advisors? Aftermarket suspension...oil leak..what rubish I would have hit the roof if I had got that back a tester.

They're only advisories, not fail points, so there is no need to get your knickers in a twist about them!

All testers have their own particular obsessions. My old garage was very keen on a long list of advisories - surface corrosion on the brake pipes was mentioned every year for about three years! Never failed on them. I actually like the advisories, shows that they have had a good look at the car.

In contrast the last MOT on the car was initially a fail (small fixes required), but had no advisories at all!

If a MOT was going to cost me £670 I'd either try and do the work myself for 1/3 of the price or scrap it lol

i was tempted to try but wanted it doing quickly lol didnt fancy driving the wifes 1.6 astra for too long lol

670!!?! what was wrong?

new springs & new shocks, 2 big welds, brake pipes corroded, 2 bald tyres, headlamps insecure and didnt work fully also needed repositioning, 2 wheel bearings and a big crack on the windscreen, and middle box had a mahooooosive hole in it so needed to buy that.

i was well :censored:off but the wife was even worse lol
