hi im new! got a 97 r 16v. wouldnt go into reverse and very hard to get other gears. clutch biting point on the floor. put a spacer on clutch cable by the lever on box to give it more travel and pulled self adjuster either side of it to reset it(think thats how u do it anyway!?). goes into gears fine now but biting point high and it judders when releasing. clutch worn out or broke or cable not working tidy?? suppose to have had new cable last yr. love the handbraking!:D

could be clutch release bearing gone mate, that can cause your biting point to go REALLY low, the rod may have shortened a bit.

If you need a clutch i've got a couple laying around

decent clutch kit is around £80 you may have been quoted a kit without a release bearing, definatly get a release bearing.

yeh just had too many bad parts from them, 2 dodgy alternators (at £90 a pop) and just genuinely bad service, and that was from their head office in wembley

My pedal box is reinforced and creaks, nearly tore it out in a rage to go biblical on it, however its not the box, its the cable creaking and echoing around the footwell. Still get your head under the dash and have a damn good look!

found the thread on pedal boxs and been for a good look at mine.
no cracks in it at all, even rubbed paint off and metal looks good. creaks comin from where cable comes in. by the looks of mine and the pics of others there def are slightly different ones.
while i was there noticed the cable wasnt so tight so went under bonnet and found the adjuster had decided to start workin! result! do these cars usaul fix themselfs!? pedal feels spot on now. hope the shop can send cable back to where they got it from when i go there in abit!:)

yeah you can reset them as you have, however as they are self adjusting they normally go back to how they were in a few days, normally means a screwed adjuster in the cable itself, so maybe give it a day or two before you send it back
