Flies in K1 rear light cluster

Thanks to the responses to this thread - seems like this isn't an isolated incident - I'll chase Barlows SEAT again for a response - flashp - any explanation about how the hell they get into a sealed unit ?

I had no explanation given, but for anyone about to contact their dealer it is worth mentioning that Seat have already honoured a warranty claim with respect to this issue, so a precedent has been set.

I've now spoken to Barlows in Wolverhampton and made them aware of the precedent you have set - now awaiting a call back from them - very slow going all of this. Watch this space.

Well after chasing dealer via phone and email they now claim to be pressing the warranty case after an initial 'its not covered' response from SEAT. My expectations are decreasing (I wish the flies were !).

Update : SEAT Dealer now claiming that rear light replacement does NOT satisfy a warranty claim for this problem, they are however going to 'have a word' with the SEAT rep who is apparently visiting the dealership this week - a "goodwill" approach is planned.

Lol barlows! Apprantly they replaced my ecu due to a low fuel pressure fault! Turned out to be the none return valve in the fuel filter (had to threaten legal action to actually get them to sort it)!!!! I really wonder whether they replaced my ecu at all tbh! They never gave me a sheet to confirm the work (i forgot to ask)! But thats beside the point! Why in gods name would they not check the simple things first! When i got there they told me my car was ready, gave me the keys etc! Got to the car and oh look the back seat isn't on!!!!! Kudos to the reception staff tho always friendly and helpful, Bev and Nicole iirc!

i have them in both sides, if i have to replace them it will be with the hella versions, i've still got to argue with my local dealer about my headlight and not being able to put the indicator bulb back in.

Do you mean the Hella LED lights? I thought those were only available in LHD layout (i.e. the fog and reverse lights reversed), so would be illegal?

My OEM (non-LED) lights are already Hella - it's marked on the plastic casing where the cluster is bolted on to the body, visible when you open the boot.

I have the smoked/silver hella ones, and a fly has appeared in mine They are identical to the original ones. The only difference being the fog lamp/reverse light need to be swapped around. They were also fixed/soldered to the bulb holder too, so you just swap bulb holders from your original lights, easier that way anyhow

Finally Barlows have, to their end credit, determined to replace the rear light clusters on a "goodwill" basis and I'm booked in on 25th September for the exchange.

Barlows of Wolverhampton, true to their word. have totally now replaced the rear light clusters and on close inspection of the removed component still can't see how the blighters got in. Much praise to Bev and Nicole for their persistence in championing my cause !

The little blighters are in my rear clusters also! I only realised after reading this post. That's another problem to add to my list of things for Arnold Clark to check if a warranty replacement is possible.
