Alpine 6x9's are probably very good, but as said, dont degrade your car buy putting a pair on the parcel shelf.
However, they can be fitted into the rear 1/4 in replacement of the standard speakers.
If it was me, i'd get the windows done and upgrade your front door speakers with a set of components at a later date.

Replace the standard rear speakers with 6x9's, just mount them in the standard place then no one can see them.

Tints first.

Don't bother with 6x9's, get some decent component speakers (amped would be better too) and a sub.

tints! Bit not too dark or looks a bit silly IMO, as said you are better off getting decent front door speakers and running them off and amp with a sub, I have some 6x9 form my last car in the end I never bothered fitting them in this car as the front ones sound great. I am all for decent sounds hate standard speakers sound. If you had asked front speakers amped or tints I would say speakers!

Tints are fine as long as they are limo stylee (as aimez said).

No I said limo style looks a bit OTT looks a big gansta!

Slightly lighter than limo looks better IMO as you cannot blend them with the fronts. Alot of people on here have done the front but if they want a fine then they can take the risk, if you don't remove them within the time scale they give you they can fine you again.

Difficult one, over the years i've had these configurations;

1) Standard HU, Front components, rear sub and amp, no rear speakers.

2) Aftermarket HU, fronts standard, rear 6x9's no amp or sub.

3) Standard HU, front components, rear amp, rear 6x9's.

To be honest, having 6x9's in the rear running off an aftermarket head unit is fine, and keeping the standard front speakers for now.

It just depends what sound your after, I just want a half decent sound.

Just having front comps amped up, with nothing for the bass, sounds rubbish if your into house / trance music, as the bass just distorts like crazy, 6x9's arent perfect, but they are good enough on a budget.

lol good! Unless he wants to look gangsta like bruv, alrite, you get me!
Just screams barry boy car is all, a work colleague recently bought a black fiesta with tints on the rear they look really good not too dark made me want them to finish off my car.

Oh dear the 6x9 argument has began, I started with them but wouldn't go back to them, may stick mine in where the rear ones go but the hassle of making them fit puts me off tbh.

When I got my first car many years ago (Volvo 440 Turbo oh yes).I immediately changed the head unit put some replacement 6in speakers in the door and some 6x9 in the rear parcel shelf.
Thought I was the bees knees, I did.

Fast forward on a few years picked up a modified Rover 420 Turbo (touched by my mates magic hands). I transfered the speakers into that, but fitted the6x9 a bit more discretely. It ran on 17's, had limo tint all round, British racing green and somewhere a huge invisible sticker telling the police that they should stop me and say hello on a regular basis.
It was subtle, but not enough. It had ruined it's Q car status.

Just picked up my latest car, first car I've bought in good 7 years or so. Looked at headunits straight away for MP3 compatibility, but never even thought about 6x9s in it.
Window tinting is a higher priority. Nothing extreme, a nice grey 30% tint. Don't need to draw attention to myself.

I see people driving by in their modified cars, stereo booming away, black windows all round, desperately wanting people to look at them. Craving attention, just so people look at their Citroen Saxo or whatever it is they drive.
Why on earth do I want to look at a Saxo?

Then I see a debadged Golf running on 19's with a light tint to the windows, possibly a discrete styling kit, maybe not.

I enjoy looking at that. I apperciate the subtly of it. The effort that somebody has put in to get his car different, but at the same time not screaming out like a kid with ADHD after drinking a bottle of Pepsi

I'm a Q car man. Always have been.

I think all of us on here would agree with that actually or we would be on a SAxo forum.

We all change our view on what mods to do as we get older and have more cash. I id some stupid little mods on my last car at the time I was a student and couldn't afford much so it worked fine and I loved it.

Still first thing in a car for me is change door speakers thou. I have done lots of mods and tints have been way back on my list.
All personal choice. Sounds like most of us has 6x9s at some point so get them if you want them. I have some for £50 if you want?!

I would say get some decent tints done first, nothing too chavvy...

then replace the useless rear speakers with some £30ish Halfords jobbies, i think the front speakers are OK for a small car tbh :D
