Sorry if this confuses this further, but I have an LCR MAF housing which is 3". This would make it 76mm. However, before I ordered the Jetex filter, I removed the airbox to measure the fitment and it measured 80mm.

Im debating on one of the Jetex open cones, or just a Green panel filter... Hmmm!

The OE airbox has a good airfeed, really makes you wonder that, apart from a bit louder, if the open cone is any better than a Green panel filter.

I have tryed the Green panel filter but replaced it with a open cone filter. Better results with a large open cone filter

In theory anyway, as long as you have a decent intercooler then a cold air feed is worth very little. IIRC a high flow air filter taking in hot air from the engine bay was a bit up on hp compared to an enclosed cold air intake filter. As the IC was keeping the charge temp under control this extra power was gained due to the higher kg/min the turbo could suck in via the less restrictive intake setup. Obviously this only applies to forced induction engines, N/As without any cooling to the intake air will be much more sensitive to intake air temps.

Exactly mate. Too many people thing heat soak will be a problem, but not so with a good intercooler.

Heat soak is a problem but sucking in hot air is a non-event compared to the lump of cherry red metal called a turbo that is sitting right next to the engine block ;)

Just to kick a dead horse,
I've got the filter, I'm having it fitted on the 1st of December along with a battery relocation!
They say they need to know what size silicone hose to fit, The inner diameter of the filter is 63mm? Should I then get a 63mm hose to go to it?

Sorry to bump up an old thread - but how do you guys keep the airfilter stable / attached?

As i'm no good at fabricating brackets etc:think:

Cheers
