Check out this weeks Auto Express.

I can't find it on the website yet but the magazine roadtests the Ibiza Cupra Vs the Alfa MiTo TB Veloce.

The verdict is:-

"The Cupra has grown up. With state-of-the-art engine technology and the ultra-fast paddleshift changes offered by the DSG box, it makes rapid and smooth progress on both the road and the track. What's more, it's refined and practical"

"As an overall package, it's a convincing winner"

This is good to read, especially after a number of 'not so great' reviews. The article does state that neither are as exciting as the Clio Cup but the Ibiza is a more stylish and mature package. I guess this isn't great news for the younger racers but for someone like me, in my late 30's, swapping my Leon FR for the Ibiza Cupra, it's music to my ears! :D

There's no questioning the Ibiza has the legs & is a technical knock out, however it's got a fairly generic look to it & it's playing ball with a car that's got hold of some 'cento lineage. If I had 15k to burn it'd be going on the Alfa... hum it's a turboed SuperFIRE engine, why is my Panda more torquie & powerful with the same boost level

Just found it...
Looks good, also noticed they said that heated seats are like £137 option, leather seats optional, and noticed on the pics of the speedo, it has a digital speed clock in MP/H, not km/h....
I know everyone is keen to find the option to switch this, but this car doesn't have a digital speed clock in MPH, it is KM/H as per the normal legal requirement.

On Ibiza, the KM/H digital speedo replaces the Trip Miles display (595.3 on the picture you're looking at!) as soon as you start moving.

In this photo, the bit on the display with the "- - - mph" is the Average Trip Speed bit of the trip computer, which had obviously just been reset, hence showing no figure.

Sorry to disappoint! :(

So where's the white dials then? I see no mention of big brakes either, let alone 4 pots like the mk4!

Charging extra for half-decent brakes is taking the p*ss IMHO. The car is damn expensive enough as it is.

Yup, it's getting more frustrating by the day... when the new Cupra was announced I really thought my next car decision was a no brainer, but the list price plus the cost of the all the extras you expect on the range topping models, plus the much discussed/pilloried DSG just leave me with the sour taste of all that could have been... :headhurt:

ive had a new ibiza as a courtesy car for a couple days, and i like the look of it, and some parts of the interior are nice, but there were 3 major gripes i had:

1) The A pillar doesnt slope up quick enough, so you had to be careful not to bash your head on it everytime you got in and out of the car.

2) The dashboard on the passenger side sticks out too far so someone my height or taller (6ft) bashes their knees on it everytime they get in unless they are careful

3) There was no padding at all on the doors, so when resting your arm on it while driving along, it became really uncomfortable pretty quickly. I ended up using the window sill to rest my arm on
