Some Advice for LCR Purchase

Hi all

Looking at getting a LCR in next few weeks and 2 of the things i want to get when i have the car is a new stereo system and a new alarm system

Firstly the stereo system, i would want something that meets my needs which are
simply full connectivity with my iPhone.

Ideally bluetooth connectivity, with handsfree talking through it, transferring contacts and ability to play the mp3's off the iphone. Id want to stick iphone in glovebox etc and select it on stereo to play music, select contacts and call people through stereo and when it rings turn off stereo and go through speakers etc etc Is this possible? I had looked at Parrot kits but thought why not kill two birds with 1 stone.

Does anyone recommend something that works for them and doesnt seem too out of place in the LCR dash?

Secondly i quite fancy getting a new Cat 1 alarm fitted, maybe full closure etc thats better than the standard one. Can anyone recommend one that either works with existing immobiliser etc or that is generally recommended?

thanks
James

Hi, I have the Alpine IDA X-100, in my opinion there is no better match to the cars instument panal it looks oem. I play my i-pod touch through this which is mounted in glovebox and have also connected my mates I-Phone up to this, though think it may have been in data transfere mode, not sure, I know it also has a phone button and connection though not looked into this.

Regards Tim

Not sure about a stereo that lets you select your contacts easily, you may be better looking for a propper hands free kit like a Parrot jobbie. Of course that might make it difficult as I don't know if you can select one device for audio distribution and another for hands free?

As for the alarm you can add full closure using a KVW100 (£27-£37) which you simply plug into your cars diagnostic port and 40 seconds later it has done its job giving you closure and opening from the remote.

Thats a good tip thanks :D

Only other thing would be to add an anti-hijack option seperately as well

Are the standard Cat 1 alarm's and immobilisers good on the LCR's then?
