superchips satges ..

Since putting a deposit down on the cupra i've decided to start looking at the options available remap wise. Whilst I realise we all have our favourites and as much as i'd like to change i've decided i will be going down the Superchips route again.

The reasons being that I find superchips service second none, they offer good support and my last 3 cars have all been mapped by them and the next one will be my 4th.

Superchips list 3 stages for the Leon,

Stage 1 is for a basic car,

Stage 2 is for cars with a sports CAT with or witout the remaining system and an induction upgrade.

Stage 3 is for vehicles that run the stage 2 modifications but require the upgraded fuel pump

I have asked about the uprated intercooler but its not essential but is sometimes worth considering.

There is a cost of £50 for the stage2/3 map on top of the initial map.

Cheers
Steve

Good info there steve! I'm just in the process of going for the stage 3 map. I've had stage 2 for around 4 months with no issues othere than occasionally running slightly lean.

i think you wont get any bad points from people on here, only people giving reasons why they chose the map they did, MY reason for GIAC was the fact it can be changed from 100 ~ 240 ~ 310 ~ 350ish bhp which is very hand in the winter, if you want to save fuel or if you come up againt someone that wants a race you can just select the map whilst on the move and you are away...

The benifits of revo is that you can fiddle with timing and boost levels which is very very handy if you are adding extra mods outwith the required mods specified for each map

either way i think if you put 5 different cars with the same spec but with differant maps on the same day i dont think there would be a massive differance between any of them.

the main thing is £££ and how local they are to you

my thoughts anyway

Stage 3 bhp looks about right but the torque looks way too low at 433nm, which i work out to be 319ft/lbs

What would you be expecting to see torque wise with that bhp figure?

i know they are different cars but to put it in perpsective my stage 2 remap on my meganesport was 274bhp and 330ftlb so i'd say 319ftlb on a stage 3 car was quite low

That comparison does show it up to be a little low.

I would expect around 350 ft/lb,s

A fair chunk different then. I'll be getting mine RR'd in a couple of weeks once the stg3 map is on so I'll report back with my cars actual figure.

i've found that superchips usually under estimate there figures, they also mentioned that they tweek the throttle so that its not so aggressive and reduces wheel spin. If i had to pay full RRP i would probably go for GIAC but to get mine reset is going to cost under £200.

did you know bluefin also do a stage 2+ but it isnt on their website.

it is for the fuel pump specific map, and from now on it will cost you a further £50 to purchase. This is also the same as the stage 2 map that is no longer free either and will be £50 extra

Yup, the stage 2+ map is what they call stage 3.

Even if you go for stage 2 Steve I'd reccommend the fuel pump upgrade over an intake upgrade, as I'm finding more and more often that there is insufficient fuel (even with the standard air intake) to stop the car running lean in the mid range.

Who are you going to be showing it off to, to be worried about what it looks like, IMO if it helps the engine in any way then i'll be doing it
